(a) Check that the Hold slider button isn't pushed toward the top of the unit. (b) Recharge the player. (c) Reset the unit (press the reset button on the back of the player with an opened paper clip).(d) Go to sony.com and follow the trouble-shooting instructions they provide for this model. If none of that works, replace the player or send it in for repair.
