There could be a few reasons why your ice tray is overfilling and not dumping the ice properly. One possibility is that the water inlet valve is not shutting off properly, causing too much water to enter the ice maker. Another possibility is that the ice maker itself is malfunctioning and not cycling properly.
Before calling a serviceman, you can try a few troubleshooting steps yourself. First, check the water supply line to ensure it is not kinked or clogged. You can also try adjusting the water fill level on the ice maker to see if that resolves the issue. If these steps do not work, it may be best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the problem.
If your water tray was empty check the water supply to the fridge .
you shouldn't fill it manually.
\if the water supply is turned on, then the operating solenoid that allows water into the tray is faulty.
Whoever repaired your fridge should be called back immediately.
There is a possibility that the water valve isn't closing completely leaving just enough space for a drop or two of water to make its way and freeze in the tube, but more than likely the fill tube is a plastic one and little divots have formed retaining water and freezing up. These divots may not even be visible to the ***** eye. A good solution is to switch to a rubber fill tube which is less likely to have this problem.
Hello Either the fill solinoid is bad or the inlet tube at the ice maker is frozen. Try running a hair dryer to remove any ice that may be blocking the water from coming into the ice maker tray.
The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips. With the fill tube blocked with ice the water can drip down the back wall or drip into the ice bin or just stop up. You can use a hairdryer to thaw the tube out.
Remove the front cover after the ice tray has dumped cubes and remove all of the water from your ice maker tray.
Then depress the test button on the bottom of the icemaker (in front on bottom) located about 1 inch from the lower rh corner.
The icemaker fill cycle should add just enough water to cover barely cover the tray. (see page 32 of the 25 Sept 2005 user's manual)
If it is overfilling the icemaker fill time / water level needs to be reduced on the ice maker module. A normal fill cycle is about 7.5 seconds.
Another thing that will cause larger cubes is high water supply (utility co) pressure.
A temporary fix would be to slowly close the refridgerator water supply line's shut off vavle so that the water flow restricts.
The real solution is to investigate ice maker fill time, and the function of the icemaker water supply solenoid vavle for possible Delayed closing of the internal diaphram.
When the ice maker calls for water it'll be filling for about 7 seconds if is more the ice maker inside control board is bad , but if there's water in the ice maker all the timeeven after or before it calls for water it means that the water valve (solenoid) that supplies water to the ice maker is leaking and you have to replace it.
