Question about Maytag MDE2400A Electric Dryer
I have a Maytag Neptune front-load dryer model: MDE5500AYW. Serial #: 10487099ZB. Was using it yesterday with no problems, even fully finished dtying a load. Went to load a second load and the interior light was on but there was no power to the control panel.
I unplugged and plugged powe cord back in -- nothing. I reset my circuit breakers in my house, nothing.
I opened the door to see if the drum was somehow stuck or lodged but the drum rotated freely when I manually turned it.
The issue is that the on/off power panel and all cycle options on the control panel are not illuminated and do not work. Any ideas?
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

There are screws holding the fins on the outside of the drum. To get to them:

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers is in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine,
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

Testimonial: "Thank you for the assistance. The actual problem was a bolt that had come almost completely off of the drum, this bolt was scraping against the side of the dryer. It was helpful to know that I could take the top and front completely off to get to the problem. Tightened everything up and everything works."
inside the control panel is a tech sheet that has some diagnostics on it . there is a membrane button test or something to that effect. I suspect that the start/pause button is the problem and you would need to replace the console w/touchpad.about $130-140 new. there are some used ones on ebay.
