Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I had 4 computers on my home network. Unfortunately, my granddaughter took it upon herself to crash the main computer & somehow make my network go offline & unsecured, while creating a new secured network of her own by installing my d-link router software into her computer. I tried uninstalling & re-installing the software into a 2nd pc of mine, but cannot successfully install-therefore the only pc that goes online is the new main desktop-is there anything I can do to correct this?

Oh yes, I am pretty sure we can get this all back in working order. To do that, I would need some more information from you.

Apart from the network problem, did she crash one computer and it is unusable now? If so, what are the symptoms?
What Operating System is installed on the computers (Windows [95,98,ME, 2000, XP, Vista], Mac, Linux)?
How are the computers connected to the router (wired/wireless)?
What router do you have (brand, model, revision[if applicable]?
Which software do you mean? Is that the CD that usually comes with the router? Please provide me with the details by coming back here and leaving a comment. Don't start a new post or I will not be able to find it. See you soon! Dante

Ask your granddaughter to open your Facebook account on both the iPhone and on your computer. It could be you can't find the data on your computer, but as long as you can access your Facebook account, everything is on your profile in the "cloud" . Everything should come back on both, your computer and your iPhone.

I cant find my facebook email because my granddaughter removed my facebook email

Did she remove yours or simply left herself logged in?

Point your browser at http://www.facebook.com. If it comes with her account, simply log out of it by clicking the little gear icon in the upper-right then clicking "Log Out."

|I cannot get into my facebook account it only goes to my granddaughters account on my computer. (She has used my computer.)

Just log her out using the 'account' link at the top right of the page, and log yourself in. Since the computer saves the cookies (or session) from when your granddaughter logged in, it is automatically using her profile.

My main computer is an old one. I just bought a new one and I would like for it to go wireless. I asked the sales person at the store if I need a router and they told me no because it comes with the new...

I suspect that you and the sales person were talking about different things. . Your new computer probably came with a wireless MODEM, which must have a corresponding wireless ROUTER attached to your network. If you don't have a wireless router attached to your home network, you won't be able to connect wirelessly. . Post back if you need further information or if I've missed the question somehow.

Sir can i connect two pcs one desktop and other laptop for sharing files bw the two and playing games bw them

There are a couple of ways you can network two computers together.
Each computer must have a network card installed together with the LAN card drivers. The two computers needs to be connected to a network hub and these computers need to be set up on the same workgroup name.
Using a network hub will allow more the two computers to be connected to a network and the number of computers that can be installed on this network depends upon the number of available ports on the network hub.
You can use a Crossover LAN cable to connect the two computers together and you won't need a network hub.
