Seems you have a dusty roller in the feed mechanism. try cleaning off the roller with some windex (or equivalent) on a towel.

I had similar problem, but not exactly what you describe. The "no paper" light would come on when I would try to print labels in MS Word using paper tray #1.
I found and installed driver and firmware updates. Still the same problem. I could print the labels if I treated it like a normal document, but if I went into "envelopes and labels" it would always say "no paper."
I found that if I used the MP tray (the one behind the front cover) it never gave me the "no paper" error. I should have been able to use paper tray 1, but it wanted the mp tray for some reason.

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
2. Grab a flashlight and look inside for any debris.
3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also
turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.
4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the
table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris
that could cause this error or problem.
6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.
7. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet
to reset it.
8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and
load some paper. Try to print again.
