Creative zen touchpad not working!!

I'm not sure what happened but suddenly the touchpad stopped working, making it so that i can't change the album, play mode, etc. every once in a while it will temporarily work, but that doesn't last for long. i first noticed it after i had had it in my backpack for about 20 minutes, wrapped in clothes and not being jostled or getting wet--it had been working fine before then and now it doesn't! any ideas as to what happened and how to fix it? thanks much!

MY ZEN DONT WANT TO TURN ON I DONT KNOW WHY CAN YOU HELP ME.

  • KMsoccergirl Feb 04, 2008

omg i have the EXACT same problem. (mine is a Creative Zen Vision M) I had mine in my pocketbook (I make sure I never drop my pocketbook & I always leave it in the pouch that came with) one day at school I was going 2 listen to the radio & the touchpad wouldnt move. I found a website that told how to take it apart so I took it apart looked around a bit & put it back together (it was quite easy lol) but it still didnt work. its stupid that the warranty lasts like only 90 days or whatever. It stopped working about a month ago. I'm lost without my Zen lol : ]

  • patenergy Oct 01, 2008

Touchpad just stopped and can't select music, artist, track, etc. Tried to install new driver. Didn't do anything. About 6 months later, I smacked it with my hand and now it works??? Go figure.

If it stopped working after you dropped it, try this:

Hold the Zen in your hand, and with your thumb, press down on the face board as hard as you can. Use your other hand's finger to scroll up or down on the touch pad. Press down different areas of the face board until you find a spot that, when pressed, causes the touch pad to work. Then, using both of your thumbs, press that spot VERY hard until the touch pad works without pressing.

This really worked. It was a kinda gradual process and involved sore thumbs - rewarding, tho, in that it actually worked. How did anyone ever figure this out???

Try holding the front panel down in places while running your finger up and down the pad. It's a dirty "fix" but worked in my case.

There is a small hole on the side that you stick a pin in to reset

I found that I removed the four screws which allows the back panel to come off. Remove the battery connector. You can then pry the hard drive off its multi-pin ribbon connector. There are fours more screws to remove at each end and two plastic brackets taken off. I then removed the circuit board which reveals a small rectangular connector with gold plated pins. This connector is what I believe is the source of the problem. Note the position of the connector and replace the circuit board ensuring to give it a good push where the connector is located. Replace the plastic brackets and four screws. I then folded a piece of paper and placed it on the circuit board above the connector location. I placed the hard drive over the piece of paper and pressed the ribbon cable back into position. Replaced the back panel with the four screws and after that mine worked OK. Tapping sharply on the front panel where the connector is can help as well..

Creative Zen MP3 won't charge with mains adaptor

Don't worry that doesn't mean that your mp3 player is faulty, if there is any fault it is from the charger but since the usb charges it well, just continue to use it. It doesn't mean the player is faulty, IT HAPPENS.

How do I join two tracks that belong together?

Are you talking about playing the tracks back to back? If so, make sure that the tracks are in the same folder under "albums". Go to the tracks file property and make sure the track numbers are correct.

C cover art does not transfer to my zen vision m, only the music tracks transfer

A few possibilities. Go to http://193.95.171.83/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=224,E=0000000000373151655,K=1742,Sxi=15,Case=obj(8179),Kb=ww_english_add,VARSET=ws:http://us.creative.com/

for more details

Creative ZEN players do not currently support album art from Rhapsody version 4.0.
Album art is either embedded in a track, or exists as a thumbnail image in a separate file, allowing one album art file to be associated with an album. Currently, Rhapsody only supports album art embedded in the track. Future versions of Rhapsody are expected to support thumbnail versions.
Creative Media Explorer or Windows Media Player 10 or 11 can be used to transfer music purchased from Rhapsody to a player with album art included.

Album Art is supported by Creative ZEN, Creative ZEN V Plus, ZEN V, Vision:M and ZEN Vision players.
The ZEN Vision (PF1150) requires a firmware update for Album Art. You can download the updated firmware:
If you experience any difficulty transferring Album Art with Windows Media Player 10 or 11, to ZEN Vision:M, delete WMPInfo.xml (see below), and then transfer the tracks again.

Creative Zen V Plus stops reading

· Make sure you have media player 11
· If you can, the best test is to try your player with another PC, to see if you still have the problem. This localises whether the problem is with the PC (most likely the USB) or the player. See the link below (search on "connection problems") for a lot more troubleshooting on this.
· Download recovery tool off creative's website.
