Question about Creative Labs Zen Touch MP3 Player
I'm not sure what happened but suddenly the touchpad stopped working, making it so that i can't change the album, play mode, etc. every once in a while it will temporarily work, but that doesn't last for long. i first noticed it after i had had it in my backpack for about 20 minutes, wrapped in clothes and not being jostled or getting wet--it had been working fine before then and now it doesn't! any ideas as to what happened and how to fix it? thanks much!
If it stopped working after you dropped it, try this:
Hold the Zen in your hand, and with your thumb, press down on the face board as hard as you can. Use your other hand's finger to scroll up or down on the touch pad. Press down different areas of the face board until you find a spot that, when pressed, causes the touch pad to work. Then, using both of your thumbs, press that spot VERY hard until the touch pad works without pressing.

Try holding the front panel down in places while running your finger up and down the pad. It's a dirty "fix" but worked in my case.

There is a small hole on the side that you stick a pin in to reset

I found that I removed the four screws which allows the back panel to come off. Remove the battery connector. You can then pry the hard drive off its multi-pin ribbon connector. There are fours more screws to remove at each end and two plastic brackets taken off. I then removed the circuit board which reveals a small rectangular connector with gold plated pins. This connector is what I believe is the source of the problem. Note the position of the connector and replace the circuit board ensuring to give it a good push where the connector is located. Replace the plastic brackets and four screws. I then folded a piece of paper and placed it on the circuit board above the connector location. I placed the hard drive over the piece of paper and pressed the ribbon cable back into position. Replaced the back panel with the four screws and after that mine worked OK. Tapping sharply on the front panel where the connector is can help as well..
