JVC TV has a black box on TV after watching a DVD. Tv picture is available around black box and have sound. But I can't see the TV shows with this giant black box in the middle. It happened after viewing a DVD. I am sure this has something to do with the remote. HELP! My son fixed it the last time several years ago but  I don't remember what he did. I am not sure I entered the correct product code but it is a JVC

That black box is the closed caption display. There is a button on your TV remote marked cc, ccd, or closed caption display. When you press this button, you should see something pop-up on the TV screen. With most TVs every time you press the button the TV will cycle to the next cc option. There are several cc options available. One of the options should be "Off". Keep pressing the button until you see off and then stop. This should correct your problem.

There is a black square in the middle of my picture- it effects bot TV and DVD watching. Thanks

Thats part of the menu of some TVs, usually is a box intended to get information, but there is nothing to show. Go to the menu and try to find the option to hide the OSD (On screen display)

I have a JVC tv only 1 year old and the picture is getting dark.

Sorry to tell you but JVC is a well-known un-reliable brand and if it's cheap, probably even worse. U may have screen burn from leaving a games console on while plugged into the tv, even if its not showing the game, it will burn it onto the screen. :(

It all depends on the dvd that you are watching you cant change it to anything bigger than what is was recorded.

You will have to just watch it like it is. I have the same thing with my dvd player its really thin picture its annoying

Tv/remote input problems

Try plugging your cable box in using a/v cables (red, white, yellow) and see if you have a picture on a different input from the box. If so, go into your general settings in the box and change the output channel to 4 instead of 3. Then try your TV on 4 and see if your picture comes in. I have seen TV tuners go out on just one channel before.

RECORDING PROBLEM

Connectivity problem. Without knowing your models and their available channels etc., it's very difficult to advise you exactly.
Broadly though ...... you need to get the input signal routing sorted.
Plug your aerial into the Freeview box. Make a connection from its RF out, (beside the aerial 'in' socket) to the aerial 'in' socket on the JVC. Run yet another co-axial connection from the JVC RF 'out' to the television.
Now - connect a scart lead between the JVC and the TV. Power off the freeview. Switch your TV to accept A/V - to show the JVC on screen. Read/go through the 'Set up' procedure on the JVC to scan in the available broadcast channels. When done - connect using a scart between the Freeview box and the JVC. This will be located on either the L1 or L2 channel selection.
IF as it seems you are using the freeview to watch all your programmes - and record in then you are simply watching and recording 'live' change the Freeview programme and the JVC gets that same one arriving in (and sending to the TV)
Unless you need to record Freeview only output - always record from the aerial input. You select via the television remote (and 'TV' selected) and the appropriate channel.
Complex to explain - hope it helps. The one thing to remember - is to make one set of changes at a time - check the result is okay, before moving to the next.
