General lee cb gets hot and stops transmitting and receiving.

After it's been on for a few minuets6 OR 7 The watts start dropping down till it stops transmitting and receiving. I cut it off and let it sit for a few minuets and it starts working again till it gets hot again. With the covers off, looking from front to back, it get hot towards back right of the radio. thanks for any help you can give me.

I agree with your comment but I think that changing the final should do the trick .

Is it possible that my general lee cb radio did not transmitt this morning because it was -30 below? I Was able to receive

As long as it was getting a good 12 volts power supply it shouldn't matter. Was the vehicle running and charging the battery OK?
Transmitting takes more power than receiving. And -30 F is pretty tough on batteries.

How old is the radio? Try another Mic. If that does not work then your radio need a service tech.

Galaxy DX 55HP stopped transmitting, but will receive. When the mic is keyed the power meter goes past max and wont transmit. Tried different mics and no difference

connect to a meter. if there is rf power on a watt meter at full wattage. then the am regulator transistor is bad. less than $5 part.

After using my general lee for a little while, I lose my transmitting range, is this a finals problem?

seems to be an audio problem to me.Check your audio transistors then your audio intergrated circuit to be sure. then check your finals.

I have a general lee and I am running a 2 by 8 box. What should I turn my radio down too to run this box I was told 3 watts wgat do I turn to accomplish this I doesn't seem to have much modulation either

The radio needs to be tuned for the box. 3 watts sounds too high for a 2x8.

I would say it would be more like 1-1/5 to 2 watts. That may be why your not getting that much swing.

You should set the radio so the box dead keys around 300 to 400 watts.

When I transmit it feeds through my stereo

if you are using a kicker (amplifier) alot of times they will cause it make sure your wires dont cross any of your radio wires under the dash
you can buy noise filters for stereos they are generally used for car amps but i have heard of people using them because of cbs too
