Question about Motorola Mobility V176 Cellular Phone
Ok, I accidentally washed this phone so its my problem - once I discovered I did this, I partially dismantled it and am drying it out - someone on another post mentioned dots turning red from white on the phone and/or battery - both dots for me are red - on the battery and on the phone - it is thursday evening and I dont plan on trying to even turn on phone until sometime friday at the earliest - I even removed the sim card to dry it off seperately - is there anything more I can do to help get this phone dried off so I have a better chance of it turning on and working at least long enough to get the replacement phone in my hands - it is my only phone
Assuming that you drained the majority of the water, if you have access to an oven with a gas pilot light in a well ventilated kitchen, putting the phone in the oven for a day or so should dry it out thoroughly.
The slightly warmed air in the oven has a lower Relative Humidity than the air in the kitchen. This is the same way that we dry fresh bread overnight for croutons or french toast.
Be certain to put a warning label on the gas valve so you don't get a melted phone.

You have a fair chance the sim is OK, so you can try that in another phone fronm the same Telco (Or an unlocked phone). Pretty much anything will do, from an older model to a pay as you go handset.
DO NOT turn the phone on until it's thoroughly dry. This can take nearly a week. Stick it near a warm source (but not hot!) to help accelerate it. If you can't live without a phone that long, then see above. :-)
Also your batter will be on its way out already, with shorter battery life.
All the red dots mean is that your phone is no longer under warranty. The dots will not turn back white when it dries.
If my advice was helpful please vote for me.
