The distibuter pipe that comes off the pump is prone to getting clogged with mineral deposits that have to be cleaned out from time to time. But I would check to see if your pump is still working. They only last a couplre years. Turn electric off to the unit, take off the side panels, look in the reservoir and you will find pump. Now disconnect the tubing that goes into the distibuter and hang that end outside of the unit, turn electric on and pump on for just a couple seconds. Return to the unit if water is pumped outside then your pump is still good. Which means the distributer line needs thorough cleaning. If no water came out you probably need a new pump. Good luck

Make sure its on cooling not just on fresh air / vent setting. If the pads are not getting wet and the control is on cool fresh air, either A/ The machine is not filling with water or B/ The pump has failed.

April Air 560: water is pouring out of the unit casing, along the seam, not into the tube. Water pad is not even wet. I think the water flow is somehow missing the pad and collecting in the housing.

feel water pipe from soap dispenser could be blocked with soap it will feel solid clear with a length of wire carefully so as not to puncture hose flush with hot water to remove remaining soap

Check for plugged holes in the top water distribution tray where the water from the pump exits to wet the pads.

Just had my pad and pump replaced (12-inch pad) and now cooling is drastically reduced. The company said they installed a much higher capacity water pump usually used on large commercial units. Can too...

You may want to check to see if in fact the pads are wet. Sometimes the build up in the service tube along the top may be clogged not allowing the water to flow or perhaps the float is adjusted to low not allowing the pump to operate correctly. Once the pads are soaked it should cool nicely.

Water pump size and over saturated pads

Louis, The cooling does not come from the volume of water running over the pads. It cools by cooling the air passing through the wet pads. So, Yours is an impeccably logical argument that leads to a false conclusion. Bigger is not better in this caThe fishy smell is from the matting (pads) when kept saturated, Molds and algae will form if there is too much water also.. Best you get the original size pump Good luck and stay cool - Ned

Air coming out of an adobeair portable evap cooler isnt cold

A new unit will take a while for the pad to become wet and more efficient. Remember, there may be two switches: fan and water pump. The unit must be full of water and the pump ON to work correctly.

If the unit has a water pump only setting, run the pump without the fan for about 20 minutes. That will get the pads nice and wet and you should get a good result. A rule of thumb in the desert is 20 to 25 degrees of cooling compared to the ambient air.

Don't use a cooler in closed area. The cooler will simply act like a room humidifier. Use in an open garage or porch for the best result.

I hope that helps.
