Question about Maytag PYE4558A Electric Dryer

Maytag Dryer Model SDG305DAWW

I have checked the ventilation and everything looks clear. The unit gets very hot. The burner will not shut off on any setting except for "Air Fluff".
Now the unit has shut off and won't do anything. I ran it on Delicate, it ran for 50 seconds (with the burner going) and then just shut off. Now it's dead.

The model listed above your post is the Gas version. Look inside the door and write down the correct number for the electric model. I do believe there was some blockage in the exhaust leading the hot air outside and it has damaged the part number 40113801 Thermal Fuse High Limit
Let me know, so I can help you better, my sites are listed below,
you can enter the model or part number in the search feature and go directly to it, Thanks and rate me if this is helpful, Sea Breeze

Hey, Read your post again and you have something else going on I will send photos later but the thermostat is telling the dryer to continue on high heat. Sorry I missed That. I will look for the part number and be back soon. Sea Breeze

This is a detailed Service manual and I need you to follow through it with me. My email is I will send you the manual no charge. I still think the high limit is damaged but there are some things I need you to look for. Sea Breeze

I need you to take the top off and lets check a few things. The only problem is until the high limit is fixed I don't think it will do anything. Do you have a voltage meter or OHM meter? Sea Breeze

That make it a lot easier. I have had many people bail out on me when I had to turn up the heat so to speak! I don't think you will have many problems opening the top. I know you know where to unplug the dryer. Use care while shifting it around so not to break the gas flex line. I'm going to have to bury myself into the manual because yours is doing something strange. But could be something simple as the thermostat that keeps the heat steady inside the drum while drying the clothes. I'm just not sure yet how Maytag built that dryer.

In the beginning the heat would not turn itself off I believe you said. And the only part that regulates the heat is a stacked thermostat located on the front of the blower wheel. 37001136 Thermostat
When in fluff it senses the level sooner and cuts in and out quicker. I want you to look at the wiring diagram. Look over the 37001136 test the resistance. I believe its stuck on heat. About the extra noise, did the drum get moved around and the plastic slides are they in position to support the weight on the front door inside?

My maytag dryer heating element gets hot but motor will not run

Sounds like you have something shorted out.

The element issue could be a contact fused shut.
With both problems I would be looking for wires melted together, or a relay/sequencer welded shut melted etc.

You do have a potential fire hazzard here. If after removing the panel you cannot locate the problem, do not run the unit.

Not drying

if you have heat and the air can escape the dryer from the vent then it willl dry, check ventilation hose be sure that it is clear from dryer to outside including the WHOLE route most not drying situations are because of smashed or clogged ventilation systems.
