Hello! i have an issue with my Toshiba laptop. I had a friend format the OS so i could have winxp on it instead of vista which i hate. The problem that i have now is i cant find any drivers that are compatable with windows xp. Other then throwing vista back on the laptop what are my options? I know that there is still a small partition on the HD that looks like it is probably the Toshiba ghost image or something. Anyway please help me!!

Allright this one can be tricky so we need to isolate the problem between software and hardware.
First, get into the bios and see it's being detected.
If not then turn off the computer and unscrew the drive from the laptop, MAJORITY of laptops
only need to have one screw unscrewed to release the drive. If yours
doesn't then you'll have to do a little more work, let's just assume
you have the majority for now.
Next, pull the drive out, feel free to give the back connector a quick puff of air, now carefully place the drive back into the laptop so that it's nice and tight.
if ur WIN XP is Service Pack 3 then u will not have much problems in installing drivers it will come pre loaded but if not there is a solution , u can first make a list of component manufacturers like Board is from intel u will get the drivers any ways from Intel no prob
Sound = ? VGA= ? is it intel or ATI or NVIDIA u will get it fromthe wesite dont worry just right down the model of ur vga Modem = ? LAN= WIFI = normally intel dont worry u will get it from intel
if ur win xp doesnt come up with pre loaded drivers just install it and then download drivers from the brand names website

one more thing if u are going back from VISTA to XP u will find it sometimes difficult if u dont have WIN XP loaded with SP3 cd so if it does not recognize ur hard drive during inst and says that no drives found dont worry just check out the solution on this link below
This happens when the Mother board, which is the place were all the cables meet inside the computer might not be working correctly. This process needs to be handle by a professional to change the Mother Board.
