You cannot simply jump out the thermal fuse ---simply take apart your dryer --wash out the entire Dryer --motor heating element, ducts, all of it with a garden hose to remove all lint---do not attempt to do anything else until you allow it to completely dry out, this will not hurt any of it as long as you allow it to dry although you should then relubricate the motor and bearings. once you do this you should replace the thermal fuse --which is located below the heating element when you take it out. I have found that the thermal fuse kit (part #La-1053) works very nicely for this as you actually get two fuses (which you could save one for a spare) it costs 22.95 from Cheapappliance parts.com with a shipping cost of $5.95. Trust me this should cure your Problem-- I have fixed hundreds of these and they all seem to suffer from this same Problem which comes from the excess build-up of link which causes it to overheat and BLOw the fuse.. This is why it is very important to CLEAN it out -----otherwise it will blow the fuse out again in a no time..

HOPE this HELPS>>>

My PYE3200AYW runs but will not heat. Changing

Check for a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. Both components should be located inside the rear of the dryer2.gif. The thermal fuse is about an inch long and is usually attached to or near the exhaust duct. Both components can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity will indicate a faulty component. Really sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Maytag Dryer Wont Start

Check the wiring from the receptacle to the wiring at the dryer itself. Your on/off switch could be bad. How old is this model?

Dryer does not start - Thermal Fuse is ok.

Good to know, when the appliance does not start at all is always thermal fuse, wiring, door lock switch, or rarely the control assembly.

Have a nice day.

Maytag dryer starts to heat then it stops #pye3200ayw

There are a couple of things that could be causing this problem for you. First off check and make sure that you have good air flow coming from the vent outside the house. If it feels weak then that is probably your problem. If there isn't enough air getting out the thermostat will shut off the heating element for safety reasons. If the air flow feels good then the problem is probably with your thermal fuse. That is a nice cheap part running around 15 dollars at your local appliance repair shop. The thermal fuse is located on the heating element housing and has two small wires coming off of it. Make sure you unplug the dryer before working on it though. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this was helpful for you. Good luck and I am glad I could help.
