Question about Polaroid DRM-2001G DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder
Unit will not power back up immediately after turning off. Needs several hours. Tried unplugging, no help. Unit fan will come on, no power light, no video or front display. Possible transformer? I had to change the cooling fan already, $7 at radio shack.
Has anyone been able to locate schematics for the power supply in this thing? The undersized power supply seems to the main point of failure. Otherwise, I have been pleased with the unit. Mine was sent back to Polaroid for RMA back in February 2008. I don't think any warranty is in effect now.
Please let me know if any one has tried to trouble shoot the TOPOW DVD RW POWER857B power supply. Two of the chips I can not identify are the 8pin Dip 2216A & a 4in dip 7703
I have tried to locate the power supply manufacturer: Shenzhen Topow Electronics Co., Ltd. Their website is:http://www.topow.com.cn but my web browser can't handle the Chinese to English translation.
I think it is very likely that an AT or ATX power supply could be substituted if all the pinouts of the original power supply are known.
**Both times, my unit failed shortly after the fan started making noise. The problem has to be heat related.

Check for any bulging capacitors specially the big green onces at location CE10 in power board. If any of the capacitor is bulging then you need to replace them. This will need some soldering skills. You can get capacitor from Ebay. I am not able to find these in RadioShack near my location.
