Question about Hitachi 60SBX78B 60" Rear Projection Television

No recption pass channel 12

Someone gave me this set today and I can't get the channels to come in. We have cox cable, on the other set channels 1-99 was programmed. First off the connection in the back looks funny. Channel A does not have a standard coax connection , then comes the "to Converter" option or last Ant B with standard connection. This is the connection I chose ANT B. Pictures 1-12 come in and the rest like espn, CNBC etc is not comming in. I did the auto program as well. What can my problem be. Is this not a cble ready TV?

Re: no recption pass channel 12

In set-up, select TV / CATV, then choose CATV.......
Next step is auto-program.......should memorize 2-99....
Consult owner manual or download..........just a thought....T.

Re: no recption pass channel 12

Judging by the year, this set should definitely be cable ready. check the front of the tv if it has a control panel for a switch that says catv/normal or something similar, if it does not have that switch, check the settings via the remote.

the channel a connector may require an adapter depending on the type of connector. i had an old tv that required an adapter in order to plug the cable coax into it, it resembled an rca connector and is used on some older tv's in place of a screw on connector.

if all else fails, your cable company should be able to provide you with a tuner/converter for free or minimal charge.

i hope this helps,

Main setup menu froze on screen unable to remove, also TV just stays on have to unplug from outlet. Press Rest button, and home button on remote nothing happens. Do have background channel TV from cox cable...

If the model number posted here is correct (vs-70707) this is a VZ8 Chassis made around 2000 and should NOT have a reset button on the front.

Please confirm actual model number.

Note: almost all Mitsubishi sets have a hidden menu (two or more) and one allows with the Mitsubishi remote to enter for example the OPTION menu and there you will be able to do a HARD RESET on the set which sets ALL settings back to default.

We've had our 32" Vizio TV for about 4 months now and up until about 2 weeks ago, everything was working fine and all channels came in. Now, we only get about a quarter of the channels that we used to...

go to menu settings, find add/delete channel or programming or tuning. There should be an option that says "autoprogram" select this option and let the program run thuroughly. It will read and install all available channels. Do make sure tv is set to CATV and that it is NOT set on AIR.

Dont know how to get cable channels , i just get local channels.

It sounds like you need to change a setting before running the auto or channel scan. On the same menu screen that has the option for running the channel scan, you should see a setting that has next to it the word "AIR" or "ANTENNA". If this isn't changed to "CABLE" or "CATV" then the TV will only scan for a limited number of channels because it assumes you have an antenna hooked up to it instead of a cable line. This is the same for all TVs. Anytime someone runs a channel scan on ANY TV and they only pick up a limited number of channels, they need to change the setting I've described. And remember, it will be on the same menu screen that you go to in order to run the channel scan.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

P.S. On some TVs, autoscan is called autoprogram.

Recording HD channels

well you would need to hook up cable box to dvd recorder. the only draw back first off is one you cannot get hd onto a dvd. you can down scale and it will seem a little cleaner than standard def but of coarse it will never be high def. I'm not to familiar with the motorola boxes but if they offer dvr's in your area i would suggestgetting one you can record all channels then afterwards transfer them to a outside device. but as i said before high def cannot fit onto a dvd unless you plan to copy one movie to 6-7 disc. Just keep in mind a standard high def channelcan only fit 2 max on one freq due to the amount of data transfer as opposed to 10 to 12 standard def digital channels

I get poor recption on digital convertor box while watching satellite. But works fine for viewing local channels. JT

Digital converterboxes will down-convert all signals to 480p at best.  No converter box should be used with the satellite signal only antennas.

Just got cable today, and i had to cable man attach it to the tv, and no cable. He said we have prefect reception, and the cable box is good. i get two channels fuzzy and one only a little out of the 63...

Did you check to make sure that in the options, the TV channel configuration is set to CATV or Cable mode, and not to Antenna mode?

If the above is true, the tuner module in your TV is probably defective.

You need to call in a TV service person who is familar with the type of TV you have to check the tuner.

There is a software issue with the cox cable box. You television will only react to the input it receives from the box. Get cox to replace the box and not to tell you it is a problem with the television. Scrivitron
