I have a DV42H5400 dryer less than a year old that runs for a few seconds than stops. No error code but the cooling light flashes. After a few minutes it repeats the process.

Kenmore electric dryer model 88042 runs but stops short beeping

Based on symptom and details, the control has detected a component failure. Since your model does not have digital display window in order to display a fault code, it will flash the four indicator lights of

Drying, Cool Down, Wrinkle Rid (Press Saver), and Clean Lint Filter will flash the number of times for the first digit of the code and the START indicator light will flash the number of times for the second digit.

Take separate counts of each indicator light, then repeat to confirm in order to be accurate in identifying the proper error code. The code is obtained by counting the number of times the lights flash. Example E24: The four indicator lights would flash twice indicating the 2 and the START indicator light will flash four times indicating the 4. The four indicator lights and the START indicator light

start flashing at the same time. The control will pause for 2 seconds, then repeat the code.

The failure is likely because of a faulty thermistor or because the heater is not working. It could have a broken heating element or a burnt wire connection at the control board. I would begin by accessing the thermistor and disconnecting it. The thermistor can be tested with an Ohm meter. The thermistor should measure approximately 50,000/5K Ohms at room temperature.

The heating element is located behind the drum and it can be disconnected and tested for continuity with an Ohm meter.

NOTE: Disconnect the dryer from the power supply before servicing.

My AEG T37400 lavatherm standanlone tumble dryer works for a turns of the drum then stops.

Alarm conditions during operation of the dryer

The LEDs begin to flash if one of the following malfunctions occurs:
  • NTC open (the LEDs flash in sequence from right to left)
  • NTC short-circuited (the LEDs flash in sequence from right to left)
  • If the START button is pressed for more than 20 seconds while a cycle is in operation all the LEDs flash.
25679338-hf2jxxovvq5cn05mugly0fcq-5-5.jpg If the microprocessor identifies one of the conditions listed above, operation of the dryer is interrupted; the LEDs continue to flash in order to warn the user of the malfunction.
If the error is eliminated, the dryer returns to normal operation when the programme selector knob is turned to RESET and the drying cycle is re-selected.

10 year old sears kenmore elite dryer, PF light will not stop flashing even after holding start for 10 seconds or after holding stop button for 10 seconds

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

PF error means power failure which is generally caused when the control board inside the unit goes bad. You can try unplugging the unit for 15-30 minutes, if the issue returns then the control board needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Whirlpool dryer takes 2-3 cycles to dry a full load of clothes

I would check for a faulty high limit thermostat. This is a small round device mounted on a metal plate and attached to the internal ductwork. It's recommended that the thermal fuse be replaced at the same time and may come as a set from a parts supplier. I will attach a photo of a fuse/thermostat for reference. Remember to disconnect the dryer from power source before attempting any repair. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

F 70 code on the Kenmore elete smartheat HE4

hello Whgispers42,
Huuum At your service!

You said,
We frequently have to start the dryer several times during one load. The dryer will run fine for a while then all the sudden give 3 beeps and then the F 70 code. Sometimes when you go to start the dryer you can press power and the panel will light up for about 3 - 5 seconds and then shut off again, this will happen several times in a row. We have been unable to solve this issue ourselves and are becoming very frustrated since this washer/dryer set are less than a year old. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. (If we are unable to fix this problem soon, it is likely that the dryer will make a sudden leap from the second floor window to the backyard)

Try this first!!
This is an error code.

This can reset the system.
First unplug the washer and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

If this does not help, you said the machine is not one year old.
All appliances have a 1 -year warranty and the service and parts are free for that first year!
I hope you succeed with my recommendations.
