Question about ViewSonic VA1703wb Monitor
My wife's monitor seems to be in sleep mode and I can't get it out. I tried turning the monitor off and back on and get a split second view of what's suppose to be on the screen and then it goes black. Is it toast?
I have a couple of troublesome Viewsonic LCDs (different models) that exhibit this exact behavior. I find that if I turn it off and on repeatedly (double-click that power button as soon as it goes black) I can get the back light to stay on eventually. Now when I say "repeatedly" I'm talking usually 30 to 40 attempts before it stays on but it has taken as few as 11 and as many as 58.

I've seen people say to try it on another monitor. This is VISTA not XP. Vista has this sleep mode issue with it. So far I can't find a solution.

Sound's to me more like a Video card issue, try the monitor in another computer if you are able 2 , otherwise please make sure video card is in tight and secure , not 2 sure what you mean by sleep mode, are you using windows vista? or xp? you may need to change some settings on your operating system , when you turn on computer do you see anything on screen at the start up? also when you click the menu button on the monitor does anything come on the screen then ? if so then its in your opertating sytem settings , disply settings e.c.t, i really need more info to help you solve this , the best thing i can suggest for now is to try the lcd on another computer a friends computer maybe , before considering the monitor is toast , hope this helps some way , good luck !
