Question about Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Lens for DX SLR Cameras

My nikon 55-200 zoom lens is stuck at full zoom

The zoom lens will not retract and is stuck at almost full zoom. I took the lens off the camera hoping it would free itself. I did not want to force it back in.

Don't force it.
Did you get dust or dirt in it?
The only solution is to bring it in for service or send it to Nikon if it is a USA model.
Nikon USA will NOT repair any gray market items.

Slide the A/M switch to M and see if the zoom will move. Definitely don't force it if it won't. Sometimes holding it vertically and tapping around the barrel may free any bits of dust or grit. Be gentle though.

Digital zoom error on an A600, lenz will not retract either

Have you tried spraying a can of compressed air into the lens assembly? All it takes is small piece of debris like a grain of sand to jam up the assembly.

Hope this helps

Nikon lens 35-70 af zoom ring stuck

This is not a do-it-yourself type of repair. If you try to do any disassembly of the lens yourself, you will end up with a table full of parts you will not be able to properly reassemble and it will cost twice as much to have it fixed. Send the lens to Nikon or a professional camera repair man.

I'm afraid that you are right about the lens being stuck.
The camera has several checks to make sure the lens can zoom freely in and out. If the camera detects there is a blockage of some kind, the lens will retract and switches of the camera to prevent more damage.
I'm afraid there is nothing you could do to fix it, other than bringing it to a repair shop and have them take a look at it.

Lens error. lens is currently retracted. will not open. nikon s8100 bought xmas 2010.

Had issue with lens stuck and not retracting on nikon s8100. first removed battery. then manually (gently) rotated lens counterclockwise until lens seated in fully retracted position. inserted battery, turned camera on and camera operational again. I suspect that root cause of lens jamming was turning off camera while simultaneously moving zoom lever

Won't turn on lens stuck out coolpix s550

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

Nikon 18-55mm lens is stuck , even when not on camera how can i fix it

By "stuck", I'm guessing you mean the focus. Flip the switch on the lens from 'A' to 'M' if it is.
If the lens won't zoom, hand it over to your local camera lab for repair.

I dropped my camera and the lens got stuck

I banged mine around several times and tried to force the retractable lens in and out. Neither of these things worked. I finally thought "what the heck it's broken anyway" and used a bobby pin to try to force the outer lens cover off. After applying just slight pressure it unjambed the lens cover and it works fine now.
