Go into atic and see what the vent is made of . Home depot sells 4 inch connectors whether hose or aluminum maybe 1 foot long . They may even sell a 4" brush connected to about a 10 foot cable ( a lot of parts houses do ) . Cut the tubing or hose and feed the cable down to someone who can pull the brush down . The top portion you will have to use injinuity to clean .

I cleaned the vent but it still takes to long to dry

if it is heating well, then you have a ventilation problem, make sure lint trap is clean if so disconnect dryer vent hose from dryer turn dryer back on put your hand where vent is make sure good hot air is comming out if so dry a load of clothes without vent tube connected, they should dry in a normal amount of time ,if so then your dryer hose is either bent too much or collasped,if hose looks good then it will be vent leadinding outside you can take a leaf blower and put in vent and blow it out, your dryer either vents on the side of the house or the roof turn dryer on put your hand on exterior vent make sure air is coming through

Doesn't dry fast

The first thing I will ask is this: does it take several cycles to dry? if so, its most likely the vent and not the dryer especially if it vents on the roof...I would say to be sure, remove vent off of rear of dryer and try a regular load of clothes...if they dry with hose off...your vent is clogged and needs to be cleaned..the screen on the roof vent usually gets clogged with lint...

The dryer is not as hot as it should be.takes hours to dry a load of clothes.

the problem is your wall exhaust vent or dryer exhaust or both is clogged with lint,if it vents out the roof most people remove the dryer hose get what they can get out with there hand, then remove the roof screen and blow it out with a leaf blower,if it goes out the wall do the same thing, but first check the outside for dryed lint ball around the exhaust-mike

Dryer is heating but taking twice as long to dry clothes as it should. What could be the problem. Clothes that should take no longer than an hour is taking two hours or more.

Since you know for sure the dryer is heating, the problem most likely is lint in the dryer tube. You will have to remove the back panel of the dryer, and then remove the dryer tube. (Not the vent hose, although you may want to make sure that it and the dryer vent itself is not clogged). Remove the dryer filter and normally the 2 screws that hold the vent tube in. Remove the screws from the vent tube and get the lint out of the tube. There may also be lint around the fan. Get it all out. Be careful though, all the edges are sharp and will cut you if you slide your hand along it while "sweeping" out the lint.

Whirlpool dryer....heats

You could have heating element going bad, or a plugged dryer vent. Start with dryer vent, make sure all lint is out of it, all the way through it, even if it goes to the roof, or out the wall. Also vacuum out back of dryer and inside vent tube. This should help with problem. If not then replace heating element its getting weak.

NOt drying clothes like it should

Has air flow problem, check to make sure the vent going to the outside is not blocked. If it isnt, you should be able to take off back cover of dryer. Should be a duct that air goes through, take it apart and make sure there is no lint in bottom of it. I had the same problem and that fixed it.
