How to by pass the anti theft at the ignition on a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Factory anti-theft system is immobilizing the vehicle. Try leaving the ignition on for 15 minutes, this may disarm the factory alarm. If you are lucky, unlocking the car with a factory remote will stop the problem. If you are unlucky, the car will need a new remote, key, ignition cylinder, ignition switch, or body control module

that will be a difficlut one as those key's do have pick-up sensors built in, you can by pass it wil start the engine but after 5 seconds it wil turn off, so it wil be better to get new one and code the key

is the interior "dusty". GM original "VATS" system, (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) worked with standard wafer style keys, slightly longer, with "pellets" of certain "ohms" resistance in them. If a key is put in, with the wrong "ohm" resistance & the ignition is turned to the "on" postion. The system will set. Try cleaning both sides of the key with mild detergent. just inside the keyway opening on the ignition keyway, clean it with a little bit of "windex"& a cotton swap, makiing sure none gets in the opening. If issue countinues, it will have to have a service at a dealer due to the complexity of the electrical components.

does it have a remote start in it some times they can cause problems or you need a new ing switch and if the anti theft light comes on and the car wont start but turns over put the key in the ing switch and leave in on pos for 15 to 20 min to reset anti theft system.

You have to replace the ignition system, all the 99's came with an anti theft unit built in. The ignition is built into the system, so that could be the reason why.

To reset the pass lock system, turn key on for five minuets, then shut key off for five minuets. then restart normally. If the system resets for no reason you need to replace the anti theft module.

Oh leave the key's in the ignition switch when turning the key to the off position. I know that to replace the ignition lock and key at the dealer will be expensive. Your S10 is 9 years old and if you can find a lock smith who knows how to by pass the wire harness in the steering colum have him do that so you'll never have this problem again.
