Question about Heating & Cooling

A/c compressor runs, no fan

I can hear the relays clicking in the control box but no power supplied to T1, T2 for fan 110 vac. If I jumper in 110vac to T1 or T2 for power fan runs OK Hi or Lo. This corresponds to the black and red wires. Control unit = Dometic Duo Therm 3107541.009 Analog Control.

Did you ohm the relays to verify a correct path? It sounds like the relay contacts are not "making" and providing a pth for flow.

My GE GSL 25JFPABS Refrigerator failed yesterday. No Comressor no evap or condensor fan

Fan motor starts with the compressor. Sounds like you need a main board and condenser fan motor. Call GE. It might be covered under warranty. A known issue with certain models. You will also need serial # if you call.

How to reset side to side freezer after power cut

Usually resetting the freezer is as easy as unplugging the machine waiting 7 minutes and then plugging the machine in again. If the machine does not start the compressor and the you would then assure that the lights on the inside of the machine are working. You would then remove the panel on the lower back of the machine giving you access to the compressor area of the machine. You would then use the palm of your hand against the side of the compressor to feel for a vibration and to assure the compressor was running. If the compressor was not running you would then check the power cord going from your outlet to your machine and assure the outlet is supplying power to your machine. After assuring power is going to the machine you would then look at the small black box on the side of the compressor you would unplug your machine and then remove the small black box. This would give you access to the start relay and overload. Unplug the wires that connect the relay and overload and pull the relay/overload off the compressors three prongs that it is mounted to. You would first observe if there were any electrical burns on the relay and if there were not you would then hold the relay in your hand and shake the relay slightly, if you hear any rattling sound on the inside of the relay, then you would replace the relay. If you have a multimeter you can test the relay further to assure the relay is functioning properly. If you find the relay is functioning properly and there are no breaks, burns, or cuts in the power cord you would next look at the main control board having a short or the wires going from the control to the relay having a short. If you hear the relay makeing a clicking sound yet the compressor is not starting you would also replace the relay as well. If you have any further questions message me back I await your reply.
Thank you,

Fujitsu AST12LSACW - The green timer light is blinking on the indoor unit. The unit is in cooling mode but the compressor dosent come on and only the indoor fan operates. There is power to the outdoor unit...

Compressor contactor relay struck or relay not activated. Remove L1 and L2 wires and jumper with L1 with T1, L2 with T2 and check now. Be careful. It's only checking. When compressor starts, switch off and replace contactor relay.

Refrigerator runs but dosen't cool. Can here it running but I don't hear any clicking sounds like the compressor is trying to start

Lets try doing this by plulling away from wall and unplug the power cord. Remove lower cover over the compressor and with power disconnected feel top of compressor. Tell me if cool, warm or too hot to keep hand on top. Click on The Point and Click Banner below=> Enter this number into search box FRS26R4AQ2

Then enter model FRS26R4AQ2 into search box and click the search button. This will help me guide you through solving this problem. Now click Here=> FRS26R4A That will show a large view of that series of Frigidaire brands.
At the moment I am focusing on the compressor because when you hear fans running they tend to hide the sounds from compressor. I want to see if the relay or start/run capacitor are OK first. Please review and respond, Appliance 911, Sea Breeze

The click you hear is the overload cutout on the compressor. The compressor is failing to start. It could be overheated from excessive dirt/dust accumulation on the condenser coils under the box, the condenser cooling fan is not running, or you could have an excessive voltage drop condition from using an extension cord for power. Or you could have a faulty start relay on the compressor causing it to not start. If the coils are dirty, they can be cleaned, if the fan does not run, clear any obstructions from the fan blade, apply a drop or two of oil to the shaft if it is stiff, replace the motor if needed. The start relay is behind a cover on the compressor. Remove the cover to inspect. If none of this pans out, the compressor may be toast. And of course, unplug the unit before attempting to do any service or inspection.

Compressor doesnt come on in a dometic duotherm rooftop ac unit.Fan runs but no compressor

If this is a wall thermostat controlled unit, then check to make sure that you have power coming from the yellow wire on the thermostat when it is placed in the Cool/Auto High mode. If you do not have power at the yellow wire, then you have a bad thermostat. If you do have power, then remove the control unit from the inside of the AC and see if you have power at the Y terminal there. If so, when you turn the thermostat to cool, can you hear a relay clicking in the box? If not, then you have a bad control box. If the relay is clicking, you need to check the power at the compressor relay on the board. It has a black wire to one side and a purple (or blue) wire on the outgoing side. Check to see if you have 120V on the blue wire when the tstat is set to High/Cool. If not, then you need to bypass the freeze switch to make sure that is not the problem. If you do, then you need to go upstairs and check the start capacitor for OK. It is located in the side compartment of the upper unit, it has a small black relay on the top called a PTCR. These often burn out and will cause the compressor not to work. If that is fine, then you go to the top of the compressor to the thermal overload switch. See if you have power at both sides, if so, then you have a bad compressor. If not, then the overload switch is open and not allowing power to the compressor.

Fan turning on and off , not sure about compressor

its the compressor relay thats clicking[its a little unit connected to compressor with at least two wires]it could be that its [relay]going bad or the compressor could be failing, but it dose cool once it gets started so thats a good sign.the relay has two an over load, thats like a curcit breaker,it cuts power to compressor if its drawing to much amparage.the other part is a swith that goes fro start winding to run a repairman i would pull relay and use volt meter to check winds before replacing relay.its been alittle while but depending on age of refer, start winding around 2.7+-.5run winding 1.1 +- .5 new box use less energy so lower resistance older higher.hope that gives you a start ps fan goes off on because its starts with compressor.God bless ,tom

I gewt no power to my compressorcoleman 15 model

On these relays NO means Normally open when power is not supplied on the control voltage side. Most A/C system control voltage is supplied by a transformer, which supplies the thermostat, which in turn supplies the power to the relay when cooling is called for. If you do have, say 24 Volts present at the relay the normally open contact should close giving power to the compressor for cooling. If the NO contact is not closing you relay coil may be open. In this case replace the relay.
