Can't make or receive calls

We've had our phone about 4 months and it has worked fine until now. the other day we lost our dial tone on this phone set only and we were unable to make or receive calls. i've tried everything that the company has suggested so far and it hasn't worked. now the only difference is that there is static and interference on the line.

We've had our phone a 24 months and it has worked fine until the last three months. The other day we again lost our dial tone on this phone and we were unable to make or receive calls. This has happened about six times previously. What has worked each time is unplugging the transformer and reinserting it into the outlet above or below it Electrician checked outlets they are all working properly. No idea how many calls we miss when this happens. What is the problem. The transmitting unit, the trransformer or something else?

Can not make or receive calls and there is no dial tone? Have gone through the Owner's Manual and everything seems to be as directed in the manual but still have not dial tone. Also have checked power sources which are o.k. and the handsets are fully charged. Would appreciate your help.

Had the same problem--everything worked fine for several months, then one day nothing but on the base unit and all the remote units. Used a different phone (non-uniden) to verify that the phone outlet the base was connected to was fine. Tried a variatn on the fix mentioned in the November 17, 2007 post and it worked. Here's what I did:
    1. Unplug the power from the wall outlet.
    2. Reset the outlet (the outlet is of the ground fault receptacle type)
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Plug the base unit back into the same outlet.
    5. Base unit worked (dial tone and no static) and all the remote units worked as well.

Resetting the outlet was probably not needed--the answering machine was on and had power, so I don't believe there was any problem with the outlet. Still, I did it just for the heck of it. My guess is just unplugging the power, waiting a few moments and then plugging the unit back is all that's needed.

Need to change phone back to tone dialing

Here's what the manual says: Changing the Dial Mode (Tone or Pulse Dialing) (HS1 only) Your phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most phone networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing. If your phone company uses pulse dialing, you need to change your phone's dial mode. If you don't get a dial tone or can't connect to the telephone network, follow the steps below to modify your phone?s settings: With the phone in standby, press and hold [cid/menu]. Press [vol/ / ] to move the pointer to select DIAL. Press [select/channel] to set the phone to pulse dialing. Press [end]. Return the handset to the base. The handset communicates the new setting to the base, and the base activates the setting on any other handsets. Hope this helps out. K

Activating Call Forwarding

You can activate Call Forwarding whenever you want your calls to be sent to another phone, including a mobile phone. Once activated, all your calls will be sent to the forwarding number you request. Each time a call is forwarded, you will hear one short reminder tone on your home phone, but you will not be able to answer the call from your home number.

1. Lift your telephone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.

2. Press *7 2.
In some areas you must use 72#
Dial 1172 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.

3. At the tone, dial the telephone number where you want your calls transferred.
You will hear the number you entered ring. When the number is answered, Call Forwarding is activated.

4. If the call is not answered or the line is busy, hang up and call the number again within two minutes.
You will hear two short tones telling you that Call Forwarding is activated.

5. Hang up the receiver.

Deactivating Call Forwarding

Turn Call Forwarding off when you want to receive calls on your home phone.

1. Lift your telephone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.

2. Press * 73.
In some areas you must use 73#
Dial 1173 on rotary or pulse-dialing phones.

3. Listen for two short tones.
Call Forwarding is now off and you will receive your calls at your home number.

Cannot call out or answer a call

The only thing I can think of is you may be in the wrong dial mode. If you do not have touch tone service you will hear the tones but it will not connect. Try setting it to pulse and see if you can call out. Check you volume or see if the mute has been set. Have you tried a different phone? you might want to borrow a phone from a neighbor to see if it is a service problem or just your phone.
