Re: Sansa media converter will not recognize my mp3...

I had the very same problem when i bought my sansa, but i solved it! Read more if you want to try the same thing:
I'm not sure does this work nicely with other versions of windows than the vista.

  1. Go to my computer from your desktop
  2. click system (C:)
  3. After that select Windows
  4. Then you should see a long list of files. Select inf
  5. Then you should get even bigger list of files. Search calmly and after some time you should see a file which name is something like INFCHACHE.1. Then right click on it and select properties. then select protection or something like that. Now make sure that all the users have all the rights to this program. If not, you can change them there. After this just delete the INFCHACHE .1 file.
  6. Now restart
the computer and plug the sansa player to the usb-drive
  7. Now the computer should recognize your sansa.

Re: Sansa media converter will not recognize my mp3...

The Media Converter will only recognize the device in MSC mode.

Make sure it is on this mode and try all of the USB ports on your PC. If that doesnt work, try uninstalling and re-installing the Media Converter.

Best of Luck.

My computer does not recognize Sansa Fuze

Hi there,

On your computer, Go to Windows Task Manager or Control Panel. Find the Device Manager. There should be a list called Plug-N-Play Devices.

Find the one that should have the driver details of your SanDisk Sansa Fuze Digital Media Player.
Right click on it and select Uninstall.

Now plug in your MP3 Player again to the computer. This time your computer should detect that your MP3 player is connected and will install the drivers for the MP3 player again.

Hope I was of assistance to you,

Cheers :)

Computer does not recognize MP3 after reinstall

When you connect your mp3 player to your PC, it will appear in "My Computer" as a removable drive. If it does not, the USB port may be the problem. Plug a different device into this port to make sure it is working. If it is not, make sure you have all the drivers for your computer inastalled. Also try a different USB cable.

if your mp3 player is not plugged in to the proper usb port, then it stays gray. you can try plugging in ur mp3 player, or instead of dragging and dropping, try importing files by clicking the import media button. it might just not have recognized the file.

Sansa c240

Sansa c200 series – Computer/OS Not Recognizing
Connect the device to the PC in MSC Mode
View/c200: Turn on then press and hold the rewind button while plugging to the PC
If that fails, unplug the Sansa from the computer. Uninstall all the Sansa software in the add/remove programs section of Control Panel. Reinstall the clean version of the software from Sandisk’s website – make sure you get the files for the c200 series. Then replug the Sansa and try again. The root of the problem is that Sansa has one set of drivers and Windows has another. If you plug the mp3 player into the computer before installing the Sansa drivers, the Windows drivers will trump the Sansa’s.
Here is a helpful link from Sandisk on the problem with extra information on Vista operating systems:

I don't know how to load music from the internet to my new mp3

the best way for that is to read your manual.

Windows XP SP1
Windows Media Player 10
Intel1.gif Pentium class PC or higher
CD-ROM drive
USB 2.0 port required for hi-speed transfer
Connect to your Computer
1. Connect the small USB Cable Connector to the USB port on your computer, and then plug the larger
Cable Dock Connector in to your Sansa c200 port.
2. Once connected to computer, it should be detected by the operating system automatically and is
shown as an additional drive called “Sansa c200”.
You will need to use Sansa Media Converter to transfer photos to your Sansa c200. Insert your SanDisk
CD and select Sansa Media Converter to install it to your PC. Then you can load your personal photos
onto your Sansa c200 by using Sansa Media Converter.

To transfer music to your Sansa c200:
1. Connect Sansa c200 to the computer.
2. Drag and drop files from your computer to Sansa c200 by using a variety of music software
programs to transfer/synchronize your files.
3. In MTP mode as long as the files are WMA or MP3, they can be dragged into the Media folder.
Otherwise, they can be dragged into the Data1.gif folder (these files will not appear on the player).
4. In MSC mode, files/folders can be dragged/copied to the device.

Sansa e260 says connected but device not recognized

I agree with the above suggestion. Try setting the USB Mode under "Settings" on "MSC" on the Sansa. My computer would not recognize the e260 when the mode was set to "MTP"; works fine on "MSC".
