Weed Eater Edger won't start

My Weed Eater Edger PE550 bought in October 2005 died while using it and won't restart. I changed spark plug, fuel filter and air filter. I don't think it is firing and it appears the spark plug wire may be broken at the point it enters the house by the on/off switch. I don't know how to get the casing off to get to the spark plug wire. I removed all the torx head screws but cannot get the casing apart.
How do I change the plug wire?

SOURCE: weed eater starts but dies under high idle

The gas used to be primed right on the ground so the EPA regulations made them put it back in the tank.
so primer side in tank enough to be a dumping point.
Probably will have to remove and check carb. rubber components for pliable and clean all the orifices you see.
if its bad dismantle carb. completely and put in a carb. cleaner solution and let it sit for awhile

SOURCE: ECHO 2000 WEED EATER I changed the fuel line,

You may need the carburetor adjusted or rebuilt. The other possible item is "bad gas". If the gas has been sitting around longer than 30 days, it may be time to mix up some fresh fuel mixture.

The Zama carburetor remains sensitive to ethanol additives in gasoline.Assuming there are no fuel line leaks, you could buy a rebuilding kit online at e replacement.com. Rebuilding instructions often appear om youtube. Its simple. The rebuilding works about 40% of the time.A new carb is around $40 online.

I have a 12 year old Ryobi weed eater/edger....have never had problems until last year...at first, it would run for a while then cut off...I'd have to wait an hour or so until it would crank and run...

This sounds to me like you have a fuel flow problem, check filters and strainers. Old fuel sometimes gels and gums up jets and strainer/filter screens. change the plug, but that is likely not involved with this issue.

I have a poulan weed eater edger. It will start and run but when I move the choke it stalls. I want to clean the air filter but I don't know where it is.

I am not familar with all models of all things but you will find the air filter in the close area of the carburator intake. The filter cleans the cumbustion air prior to entering the carb. Good luck...Lee

Weed eater starts, runs 5 min. then cuts off

The gas cap may be clogged.

The next time you run the trimmer and it starts to die, loosen the gas cap. If it starts running again, then you know that it's a clogged gas cap.

You may also check the air breather, it may be dirty as well.

Just let me know if you need further assistance.
