SOURCE: won't acquire satellite
There is currently an Update (Vers 5.10) available at Garmin.com Check only the Nuvi 350 click on it and the Nuvi 350 will appear. In the Upper Right Corner you will see a Category of Updates. Click on it and you will be advised that you need to Download UpDater. Do so, uncompress it, then attach your Nuvi to your computer and run Update. It's simple, just follow the instructions on the screen. However, it sometimes take a couple of tries before the Nuvi actually accepts and shows that it has been updated to Vers 5.10 I guess I was lucky. Mine accepted the new update with the 2nd install but it sometimes takes 4 or more. If you are uncomfortable with the foregoing or it doesn't work for you contact Technical support at Garmin. No. 98% of the time it took 45-56 seonds for your NUVI 660. Thats the compagny set up time acquisition and it did very well.
Be sur you had your flip antenna parallel to earth surface.
660 has THE BEST SIRF Chipset for acquiring satellite.
I had 2 NUVI 660 since 2 years. It work much better than those new 7xx series who it really took 2-3 minutes to acquire satellite.
Be sure you update your version to the last one.

I had the same problem? GPSmap76S was hung up trying to AutoLocate. It just couldn’t find itself, and it just stopped working all of a sudden one day, while I was traveling. I spoke with Garmin about the problem, and they advised me of an ongoing problem with WAAS. I was told that I should "Disable" WAAS, because the signal from the WAAS satellites had been changed by the government, and Garmin had not yet put out a software update to address the problem, on the 76 units, anyway. Also said that an update "should" come out, in the future, however, no commitment or promise on that. Evidently, once your unit hits one of the WAAS signals, it scrambles up the receiver in the GPS, because mine sure went crazy. The support guy also said, that if this did not correct the problem, I might also want to try a "Master Reset". So here’s what happened.
I disabled WAAS, but this did not correct the problem. The unit was still lost out there somewhere, trying to AutoLocate, so I ended up doing the “Master Reset”. Please read up on this procedure before trying it, and understand that you “will loose” any settings that you might have made to the GPS, along with all waypoints, routes, tracks, etc., however, my maps actually remained in tact? This procedure will actually set the unit back, just as it was when it originally came from the factory. Once completed, you will then have to allow the unit to initialize it's self again, just as you did when the unit was new. If you have forgotten about doing that, it simply means that you need to set the unit outdoors and leave it “on” for a while (15 – 20 minutes), until it actually AutoLocates it’s self, or locks in on your current position. Once this is done, re-do your setting preferences, back to the way you had them before the Master Reset. At the very least, you’ll have to re-set it to the correct time zone, and tell it about daylight savings time. Note: It’s a very good idea to go thru first, and jot down your page settings and main menu settings, before doing this procedure, or the screens may not look familiar to you, once the unit resets. You think you’ll remember them all, but you won’t. But whatever, once you have done the “Reset” and “Initialization”, you must now hook the GPS up to the computer and reload your waypoints, routes, etc, back to the GPS. You did have them saved on your computer, didn’t you? Hope so… If so, you should now be good to go…………….
My unit now works like a champ, good as new, just not as accurate, due to WAAS being turned off. I still don't know if the WAAS issue, was part of the problem or not, but I do know that the Master Reset got the unit back to working immediately, allowing it to locate itself almost instantly. What a relief…………..it’s a little work, but it takes much less time than it took you to read this post…………..
Hey, when all else fails, call Garmin 1-800-800-1020. They are good guys and willing to help, in fact, I would advise you to call them before you do anything, so you can describe to them, exactly what your unit is doing. I am only relating my situation and what happened to me. Your situation may be different…….

You need to do a complete reset by turning it on and at the same time press the bottom right hand corner of the screen this will reset it to factory condition. having done that when you switch it on again leave some where where it has a clear view of the sky and leave it for about 1/2 an hour. This should sort it out for you. Best of luck.
