Reverse polarity of the power supply to a laptop will damage the motherboard if there is no reverse polarity protection built-in to the motherboard circuitry.

What can I do

Obviously this an electrical problem. Check the polarity in the hardwiring. In normal situations it doesn't matter, but in these newer electronic dishwashers polarity does matter. Turn off the circuit breaker supplying power to the dishwasher; usually a 16 or 20 amp one for the kitchen and use an electrician's screwdriver with a lamp in the handle to check the polarity of the supply wires after you open up the faceplate and turn the power on. If they are wrongly matched, turn the power back off and reconnect them properly. Hot is red, negative is usually Black and Green is ground. If your supply wires do not have a ground and you have metal drain pipes, there is a a clasp that may be used to make the drain pipe your ground.

I assume you mean you changed capacitors on either the mainboard or power supply. My first question would be why you did this in the first place. If no power then you may have a additional problem other then capacitors. Unless the caps were blown or you tested them with a ESR meter then they might have not been bad.. Or they could have cause another component to go bad or vice versa depending on the circuit. Did you make sure you installed the new caps with the correct polarity? If so.. did you test the new caps with a CAP/ESR meter to make sure they were good? If cap were good, correctly installed, correct polarity, good soldering job.. then there is another bad compotent on the board some where.. with out proper testing it would be hard to say.. usually on & off issues are power/capacitor/mainboard related.

My comp shuts down at least once a day. i shut it off wait a few sec and start it back up, seems to be good for several hrs. i have run ccleaner and microsoft essentials and they both allways say there is...

it could be a power supply issue.. shut down the computer

remove all connections that go to the power supply , look inside the connectors and inside the mainboard coinnections, make sure there is no corrosion or dust in the connections

use something , like CO2 air can to blow off the dust from the mainboard..

plug all connections back.,. start computer ..if problem persist, it couls be a hardware or s/w compatability issue.

BEFSR41 power supply?

Both the voltage and the polarity should be printed on the case of the router. The polarity should be right next to where the power plugs in.

The polarity information will look something like this:

If you take the router into a local Radio Shack, the clerk will probably be able to tell you which power supply you need.
