Print Adobe pages 128 and 129 of 302 of the M2000 Series Product Reference Guide and scan the "Scan Options" "Data Suffix" and "Enter" barcodes. The scanner will give two beeps after the first barcode, two beeps after the second and a warble after the third programming (Enter) barcode.

The manual can be downloaded from this link: http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=3969605apdf&sliceId=&dialogID=114420706&stateId=1%200%20114410949

Hello Severiano,
this can be done automatically, just by scanning three programming barcodes. Please follow the steps in the attached document. https://docs.symbol.com/attachments/ADC-01244.doc

After scanning it is automatically not going to the next line

Symbol barcode scanners by default do not add a return after a scan. You need to program the scanner to add a suffix.

Download the manual from Motorola/Symbol here

Problems with M2004 Barcode Scanner

If your M2004 is connected with an RS-232 cable such as the CBA-R01-S07ZAR or the 25-32465-20R the scanner defaults to sending data at 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, software or hardware handshaking. Is it possible the software needs to see a carriage return after the data? If so, Scan Options, Data Suffix, Enter from Adobe page 135 and 136 of 310 of the M2000 Series Product Reference Guide will make the scanner send a carriage return line feed (7013). If your program needs just a CR then scan the Scan Suffix barcode from page 134 of 310 followed by a 1, a 0, a 1 and a 3 from page 175 of 310.

If this does not help or if you are connected any other way and the CRLF does not help it may be a good idea to contact the Motorola support center for assistance. Their phone number is 800-653-5350.

I have plugged it in, and the laser is on but does not work. It beeps when I scan a barcode but the computer nor the epos software is reconising it. Hlpe!

Make sure the correct port is selected in the Symbol software (or whatever program you are using)
You can check if the scanner is functioning by opening a new "text" document and then scan a barcode and the results should show up in the text document.
If that works then it's probably just your software configuration...

Good Luck!

Cannot Get Symbol m2004-i290 cyclone to work with Beetle /M

When connecting to a serial port there are a couple of things that could be causing the issue. The biggest problems are usually one of these:
  1. The app does not accept serial data.
  2. The RS-232 settings of the scanner and serial application do not match.
  3. The cable issue.
  4. The data is not using the termination character the application needs.
Are you using a Symbol 25-32465-20 or CBA-R01-S07PAR cable?

If so, do you know for sure your application accepts serial data? The scanner puts the data on the COM port and the application takes it from there. A good test is to try the scanner in Hyper Terminal if you have it. It is usually listed under: Programs>Accessories>Communications.

The M2004 series scanners default to 9600 baud (or bits per second), 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity and no hardware or software flow control.

When starting HyperTerminal you may have to go through a screen that asks for a phone number. Just enter something and click OK to get to the next screen (sorry I can not remember exactly what that screen looks like- once it is set you do not see it again.) Next will be the Connection Description window. You will name the session (name it anything you would like) then click OK. Next is the Connect To box. Select your COM port in the Connect Using box, the first three boxes do not matter. When you click OK a Properties window will open. Most likely you will only have to change the Bits per second to 9600 and the Flow control to None. When you click OK your session should be active. You will have a blinking cursor in the upper left corner and in the bottom left portion of the window you should see the session time counting up. You can now try to scan a barcode. If the data shows up you know the scanner and cable are both working.

If you know your application accepts serial data (Word, Notepad, Excel do not) then it may be the application needs to see a carriage return at the end of the data. The CR is added by scanning Scan Options, Data Suffix, Enter from the M2000 Series Product Reference Guide. Test the scanner. If you still do not get data scan Scan Suffix, 1,0,1,3. Again all of these barcodes are in the M2000 PRG which can be obtained here:
http://support.symbol.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=3969606apdf&sliceId=&dialogID=116516744&stateId=0%200%2011867900

Hopefully this information will be helpful in getting the M2004 working.

Symbol M2004 scanner scans bar code using hyperterminal to test. But it will not scan into word or into my pos maid software.Attached via com port. any ideas

I know this is an old thread but it may be useful to someone.
Model: Symbol M2004-I111 cyclone.
Look up no."73-39696-111" for a pdf of programming instructions.
The large jack plug goes to a security tag demagnetiser. Though mine has only two wires, a black and a red. Scanner works with nothing connected to this end. I think pressing the button on the top of the scanner sends a pulse to the demag. to disable the security tag.
The scanner needs a powered com port to work. Usually only on purpose built till machines not ordinary pc ports.
Good luck i have not been able to figure out the complexities of getting it to do what I want yet (no read all code!).

I need a driver for my Symbol Cyclone M2004 becouse it has a serial conection

There is no need for drivers for this scanner. You will need to configure it using the barcodes from the product reference guide to use standard serial port. You can test it in Hyper Terminal if you set the com port normally to 9600, 8, n, 1. This should enable the scanner.

Make sure that you actually have the right cable for it.
