Make sure that you removed the old graphic drivers and installed fresh ones from Nvidia. You can get to the drivers page from this Link.

Hello,

Thanks for using fixya.

My name is Carlo.

Your computer might not pass the system requirements that's why it has an error. Or, you can try installing it one more time and check if it will work. Computers do mess up sometimes.

Here's the system requirement of SIMS 3:

Desktop PC (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or Radeon 9500)

Desktop PC (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce FX 5900 or Radeon 9500)

Laptop (Windows XP + SP2):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2000+ Processor
RAM: 1.5 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or Radeon 9600)

Laptop (Windows Vista + SP1):
CPU: 2ghz Pentium4 Processor or Amd Athlon 2400+ Processor
RAM: 2 GB of RAM
GPU: 128mb Video Card (GeForce Go 6200 or Radeon 9600)

IF your computer does not pass the system requirement, then you cannot play sims3 in your computer.

I hope this helps. Thank you for using fixya

My Dell latitud 3100, Can't see my new fx geforce 5200 256mb

Uninstall your previous graphics card drivers and install the ones for your 5200, if that doesn't work try getting the new drivers from the nVidia site or just smash it with a hammer!

After installing the graphics card (nvidia geforce fx 5200 pci) it boots up fine then when i try to play a game it will come on then on starting the game it will just reboot please help

Make sure the graphics card can handle the games minimum requirements. if the game is trying to push more than the card can handle it will either kick you back to the desktop or reboot the computer.

Need graphic card upgrade for Dell Dimension 4500 w/ pixel shader

This is an older machine that has a 4x AGP port for graphics cards. The good news is that cards for this slot are cheap...usually in the 30-50 dollar range. The downside is that you wont get the greatest performance out of them. I would recommend going with a Geforce FX 5200.

Card not allowing more then 640x480 and 4bit colors.

If you have the option to disable on-board VGA on BIOS do it for test.

To check if you have enough power please try to boot with your CD/DVD dirves and extra HDD off.

Installing GeForce 5200 on Dell Dimension 2400

I suggest that better check that graphic card in another machine and make sure it is working.

Also find out the data transfer speed of your mother board through the AGP slot is compatible with your graphic card. (e.g. 4X, 8X, etc.)

If you are sure that your system really has an 8X AGP port (A choclate colored slot) then you could deffinitely install the card and work with it.

With the information I received the Dell Dimension 2400 deos not features an AGP 8X port, in that case it is not possible to install the card.

Then you should buy a new motherboard with AGP 8X Port to be able to install the Ge force FX 5200.
