when i switch to zoom lens, nothing focusses. Can't see anything through viewfinder. Prime lens is not doing this.???Help. Tried cleaning lens, checked all settings, battery and memory card.

Camera now behaves as if lenscap was permanently on, ie no view on screen or in the viewfinder, only the usual messages.  Any attempt to take picture just records blackness.  Review of previous pictures is still fine.  No apparent reason for problem developing since last use of camera a month ago.  Batteries are fine.  Tried using camera in all other modes such as continuous shooting, all to no avail.

I have the same problem. Just a black screen when I turn the camera on and it won't take new pictures. It was working fine for part of the day and within an hour it just stopped working abruptly.

My camera was working great until one day all of a sudden my screen doesn't work anymore. I am really upset as the camera was never dropped, wet, or abused. I only had a little over a year.

Kodak m1073 dont open

The problem you describe is frequently the result of dirty/corroded battery contacts in the camera. Try removing the batteries and cleaning the inside contacts with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. Remove any residue left from the cleaning, then replace the batteries. Hopefully all will be well.

If the cleaning doesn't work you might want to check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

Camera won't turn on, light just blinks

Your fix could be as simple as cleaning the camera's battery contacts, or it could be something more serious and expensive. First try removing the batteries and cleaning the camera contacts with a small metal brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. If that doesn't fix the problem, check the Kodak Help Center by clicking on the link below. It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.

Is the battery dead? Try taking it out and charging it, then put it back into the camera.

Also, you can try using another battery of the same type.

Problematic Camera

I just discovered that the real problem is a STICKY SHUTTER BUTTON, staying down after taking a picture. This prevents the green ready light from coming on until I jiggle the shutter button. It has actually started to be hard to press, making a definite clicking sound as it goes down. I can even feel it catch on something. If I move it around a bit, it will eventually come up, allowing the ready light to reset. Can this be cleaned? How about adding a drop of WD40 or something? Anybody ever take one of these apart? Any tips as to how to do it safely??? Thanks.
