Question about Dell 924 All-in-One InkJet Printer

Dell 924 can't connect. Have unplugged power cord and usb cable, replaced printer cartridges; and unistalled and reinstalled software with no result.

It's possible your computer is not recognizing the printer. First start by making sure the USB cable is not faulty. Try using another USB cable if you have one. Also go into your device manager. Assuming you have Vista, you do this by going to 'start - control panel - system'. In the upper left hand corner you'll see 'Device Manger'. You printer should be listed there. If it isn't, then your printer driver is not installed. If the printer is there but shows an exlamation point it means you have a software conflict and it didn't install properly. Make sure you clean all garbage off your system. This includes all temp files, cookies, & temporary internet files. Sometimes junk in these folder can keep software from loading properly.

Do a Power Recycle.

Her is how.

1-Disconnect the USB from PC.

2-DIconnect the power cord from outlet.

3-Press the printer Power Button for 15 seconds.

4-Plug back the USB.

5-Plug back the power cord.

Is this not resolve the other option is to unistall and install back.

Dell photo 924 is completely unresponsive. Power


Pitch it. There does not appear to be a firmware update. That would be the only thing that would have a chance of fixing this. Otherwise, the controller board is shot. The cost of repair is more than the printer, buy a new one.

Cannot communicate with printer

  • Unplug the printer cable from the computer.
  • Unistall the printer drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the printer appications

Troubleshooting Dell 924 all in one printer(Printer reads unsupported cartridge)


Try replacing the cartridge with a new Dell ink cartridge, the refill may have gone bad.

USB Cable?


It should connect directly to the printer. Exactly where varies from model to model, but there should be a small port it will fit in. Just FYI, the printer will not be powered by the USB cable, it will require a separate power cord (which you probably already knew and had plugged in).
