Question about Panasonic PT-53WX52 53" Rear Projection Television

The PT-53WX52 When I turn on the PT-53WX52 it turns off after 10 seconds. Then the red light blinks three times waits 8 second and repeats another series of three blinks. The cycle of the lights blinking repeats it self until you unplug the TV. Help what is the problem?

This looks like a problemcausing the shutdown circuit to trigger. The shutdown circuit prevents the TV from being further damaged by an overcurrent or overvoltage event. The overcurent event is caused by a component being over driven and thus it decreases in resistive value causing an increase in current, The over voltage event is caused by a component increasing in its resistive value either due to an open circuit or decrease in the component's conductive area. In any event the shutdown circuits senses these eventes and shuts the TV down to prevent futher damage.

I would suggest taking the set to your local TV repair shop.

3 times LED blinks in Panasonic PT-47WX42 shows problem with convergence out chips failure as this tv has two big black ICs STK392-110 as convergence output, replace them to fix tv problem.

Blown convergence amplifier chips. Very common and expensive repair unless you do it yourself.

Replace both convergence Ic's Stk392-110 and personally I'd use STK392-150's for greater reliability. Also check all 2.2 ohm 2w resistors for open or change in value and replace as many as needed...

I had the same problem and found the answer at Then I found a detailed write-up for the procedure at that gave me the courage to attempt the repair.

The result was successful. The TV works and the picture looks better than ever. It cost me about $40 in parts and two hours of labor !!
