This did not fix the problem and you did not tell me how to dismantle the system to get the DVD out. I can hear the motor sound like it is trying ton eject and reload. I am mechanically inclined and would be able to following your instructions to take it apart if you would give them to me. I do not hold you liable in the least. I have taken the acoustimass apart and removed the module and cleaned the dust from from everything and looked at the fuze to make certain it was not blown. I put it all back together, now I just need to know how to get the case of the unit itself. Please provide me with instructions.

    Thank you,

I finally got the schematics and instructions how to take the media center apart. I did get the DVD out and aligned the tray and put it all back together. Now, when I push eject, it open but then closes immediately. What can I do to fix this?

    Thank you,

Hello there, sorry to hear about your troubles with your Bose system.

I am assuming it will not eject? If that's the case...

First off, you will want to try the following:

Unplug the unit from the wall, let it sit for a good 60 seconds. Then go ahead and hold in the eject button and power the system on while you hold it in. I worked on this exact same system two days ago and this was the issue, DVD stuck inside but "rebooting" the system and ejecting upon boot fixed it. If it does not fix it then unfortunately it is very very difficult to get the DVD out, it is quite literally stuck inside. You will need to call Bose service to get it out if the first step doesnt work, the number for the department you want at Bose is: 1-877-210-3782

I am very confident the first part of the procdure will work, I've seen this quite a few times with this unit and it has fixed it every time.

Hope this helps, thanks for your patience and understanding!

I don't know how to even begin to describe how you would take apart the unit, and once you have that apart you are going to need to take apart the actual dvd rom inside the unit. This is all very delicate equipment in there and easily messed up. I would really recommend you call Bose as the next step, if anything see if they can provide you with a schematic of the device, it is very very complicated to get apart, I don't know how I would describe which screw to start on and from where via text in here. I have also checked to see if I have a schematic and I do not, hopefully Bose will.

I am so very sorry, please let me know if you have any ideas.

    Hello again,

To me that sounds like the eject button is getting stuck against the actual casing when you are pressing it. The only think that would cause it to open up like that would be the button being stuck, so it thinks it's being held down, so something under (or I guess above could be possible too) the DVD tray that is catching on the tray when it tries to go out, when it hits it it has an automatic safety feature that causes it to retract so that if it were to accidentally open against something it wouldnt burn the motor out.

So please check the button to see if its getting stuck, or look around the tray and make sure nothing could be getting caught.

Bose 321 won't eject DVD

the dvd system is built around a pc style dvd rom drive. You can remove the top cover by prying the back center up and sliding the cover back then off. Remove the metal bracket that holds the drive in place and then remove the drive. the front tray cover should pop off as you remove the drive. There is a eject hole in the front that if you put a paper clip into it will release the tray. That way you can get your dvd back. I refurbish these drives and I may have one for sale. Contact me if you would like to send the unit in to me i can complete the repair for 85.00 Bose does offer a repair service if you call them at 1-800-999 2673

I put in a dvd and i get format not supported?bose 321 gsx system

-If this happens on all DVDs, then this may need to be repaired (Bose will repair this for free if this is the case- they can test it too) -If this happens on some or most DVDs, you can try a firmware update. Call Bose at 800-367-4008 and tell them about this. Request the most recent software/firmware update disc.
If you haven't already, just try resetting this first. (unplug the power cord from the acoustimass module for about 30+ seconds and try again)
If this happens primarily on rentals or home-made dvds, an update will most likely fix the problem.

Bose System Bose 321 unsupported format with dvd's

You need to stand at the front of a Bose store and tell everyone about to enter your story, until the manager of the store agrees to give you a new one. This looks like an ongoing problem that Bose knows about and will not address. $900+ and maybe 60 hours dvd time and I'm on the same boat. I thought Bose could be a trusted company.

Non bose dvd player for bose system

In short, you can. I did it last night. My Bose 321 DVD player is junk and it's always been junk, but I love the sound sytem. Last night, after the thing gobbled it's last DVD, I went through the whole, unplug, wait 5 minutes, plug back in, etc. and it still wouldn't eject so I ripped the DVD tray out of the thing with a pair of pliers, recovered my DVD, and slammed the tray back in, stripping all the gears and screwing up the motor in the process.
BUT, I disconnected the video cable from my Bose and plugged it into the video out on my el-cheapo Tru-Tech $99 DVD recorder. Then I ran the audio out cables from the Tru-Tech to the Aux 1 inputs on my Bose 321.
When I want to watch a DVD now, I put the DVD in my Tru-Tech, turn on the Bose, switch it to Aux 1, and I get a great picture and the Bose sound. Best of all, I don't have to plug and unplug that sorry Bose system everytime the wind blows.
They used the absolute cheapest DVD player they could get their hands on--a Toshiba model--for all the Bose 321 older models. Every single person who bought one has had these same troubles and they've made no offer to fix them.
This was my first and last Bose because of that and I hope more people stay away from Bose until they get their act together and protect their customers. $1000 for a system that eats DVDs like M&M's is ridiculous.

DVD stuck

Replace the drivebay of the Bose AV3-2-1 If the drive sticks, or does not open, or If you receive an error of NO DISK, or any indicator that the disk is not properly recognized clean the lens and if still doesn?t work then the DVD drive is bad. You can actually use one for a desktop PC with a few part swappings. Check that the drive is a Toshiba SD-M1612 it is printed at the bottom of the drive bay. To use this SD-M1612 as a replacement you will simply have to swap three external parts. Remove the 3 parts from the bad Bose drive bay: Remove the 4 bottom bolts, lift cover, if the DVD bay door is locked then insert a paperclip into small hole in the front. Slide DVD tray out and remove the PC style DVD ROM tray facing. 2 clips hold it on pry them out and slide the facing up and off. Now remove the face of the drive bay. It has several clips. Save these three components (top cover, face, and tray facing) to add to the new Toshiba SD-M1612 DVD bay. Remove the old and installation is the reversed procedure above. also remove the small clear LED bezel from the new drive before adding the face. It works fantastic.
