My dremel tool runs fine (the motor)but the spindle stopped turning. Bumping it a few times will sometimes get it started again.

Thank you, kg4aau. I did open it up and saw that the tubing had broken apart but wasn't sure this was the entire problem or that I had to have the exact same kind of tubing. I wonder why dremel does not list this part (the tubing). I think maybe they don't want you to open the tool and try to fix it yourself. Thanks again.

That's not the problem. The spindle (or whatever it is that turns with the tools on it) turns from plastic sleeve to end part but the motor does not seem to be attached. If I push the spindle toward the motor and spin the spindle everything turns (by hand) but it does not run when the pressure is off. Is there a part of the spindle that comes out of the motor and runs through dark plastic where you can't see it that could be broken?

There is a tubing connector between the collet and the motor, they hot glue these together. i just go to the auto parts store and get a new piece of tubing and glue it the same way.you will have to partially disassemble it to replace the coupling. if you disassemble it the collet just lays in the housing on the motor side cut the tubing to the right length. a slightly smaller size won't need the glue.

Perhaps the best thing to do is get a second dermal tool with the appropriate size nut. I saw where Harbor Freight had kits for as low as ten dollars.

My dremel 4000 turns on but acts like motor is froze put new brushes in same thing happens help

Have you tested the motor without load? If it spins outside of the dremel then there is probably a clog or gunk in the spindle of the bit connector keeping it from spinning. If it doesn't spin, then the motor is shot.

Broken Dremmel tool spindle stop turning but motor runs

I called Dremmel tech support FOR FREE and they told me what was broken - flex coupling between shaft and spindle. Only Dremmel model 395 type 2 and 3 have these couplings. Mailed out repair kit yesterday.

The motor on my dremel 395 works but the bit doesn't turn

there is a coupling between the motor and the spindle that has probably cracked or stripped out. I suggest going to Dremel.com and getting an original replacement part for this. They are not hard to install.

Dremel 395 in the middle of drilling sea glass and the collet and bit stop turning while the motor is still running fine! GRRRRR Thanks for any suggestions!

sounds like the rubber connector between the motor and collet.i use rubber tubing and hot glue to keep it working. bad news is you have to disassemble it to install a new connector.

I own a Dremel model 395 type 5 variable speed and it suddenly stopped working. I was wondering if it was common for the switches to go bad or if it's known for other parts to cause it not to turn on.

I would recommend going to Dremel.com and asking their tech section about this. I have one also and mine works fine other than a small amount of heat at the spindle area.

I have a Dremel Single Speed Model 275 that belonged to my Dad. It suddenly won't turn on the end even though the motor is running at full speed. When I take my fingers and twist the end, it starts to turn...

The Dremel 275 (and other series) have a plastic coupler and spline that connect the motor shaft to the collet shaft (where the tools attach). The plastic fatigues and disintegrates, causing the collet shaft to stop, even if the motor is still running. The fix is about $5.00 --- two parts from Dremel. The 275 case is a **** shell that opens with the removal of six T-10 Torx screws.
