How to remove battery

You should remove the battery pack first then open all the cover panel to expose the battery, if your speaking of the CMOS battery and not the battery pack.

Tip

How to replace the CMOS battery in an Acer Aspire laptop.

General info
All laptops have a CMOS battery. The main purpose for the CMOS battery is to store the system time, date and BIOS settings even if the computer is turned off or the main battery dies. Individual Acer Aspire laptop models differ somewhat, but the general steps are the same when replacing a dead CMOS battery.

Before you start
1) Read through the owner's manual for your particular Acer Aspire laptop to determine what kind of CMOS battery you need.
2) Purchase the battery through Acer or a local or online computer parts dealer.
3) Turn the laptop off and unplug it. Also unplug any external hard drives, cameras, or other external devices.
4) Turn the laptop over (bottom facing up), then touch something metal to remove static charge.

Removal of the CMOS battery
Remove the Phillips screws that secure the motherboard cover (refer to your owner's manual if necessary), then release the cover from the clips on the bottom of the plastic casing. Lay the cover aside then locate the CMOS battery cable on the right side of the motherboard. Unplug the cable then remove the battery.

The battery should look something like this

slasher_x_2.gif
Plugging the new battery in
Plug the new CMOS battery cable into the motherboard. Slide the battery partially under the laptop casing (somewhere to hold it in place), then align the cover with the slots on the bottom of the laptop housing. Replace the screws then turn the laptop back over.

Finalizing
1) Turn the laptop on.
2)Enter your BIOS (usually by pressing the "Delete" key) before the operating system loads.
3) Follow the BIOS prompts or refer to your Acer Aspire owner's manual to reset your time, date and desired system settings.

Reason: Anytime the CMOS battery is unplugged for more than a few seconds your BIOS will be reset to the default manufacturer settings. If you make any changes to the BIOS that cause problems with your Acer Aspire, unplug the CMOS battery for 3 to 5 seconds to correct the problem.

BIOS

Step 1:
This might not be your laptop it might give you a guide into the cmos battery
The CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) battery saves basic settings on your computer. If the date and time function on your Acer notebook isn't working, chances are your CMOS battery needs to be replaced. Separate from your laptop's main battery, the CMOS battery is about the and shape of a coin and is located inside of your computer. Changing the battery yourself isn't the simplest task that relates to your Acer, but it isn't terribly difficult either. Here's how.

Open the notebook screen until you can easily access the keyboard. Locate the plastic bar that borders the top of the keyboard. Insert the flat head screwdriver at one end of the bar and gently pry it up until you can grip the edge with your fingers. Pry the other side of the bar up with the screwdriver and pull out the entire bar, being careful to mind the ribbon cord that connects the keyboard to the computer. Remove the two screws on either side of the keyboard that secure it to the computer. Slide the keyboard up and place it to the side. Remove the four screws on the exposed metal plate that covers the motherboard and remove it. You should now see the CMOS battery in the bottom-right-hand corner of the motherboard. Remove the battery by gently pulling it up and off the motherboard. Replace it with the same model battery (available at any computer store or online). Reassemble the computer the same way you took it apart. Acer TravelMate 6592G Keyboard Replacement Guide http://tomkaminski.com/acer-travelmate-6592g-keyboard-replacement-guide

I forgot my acer lab top's password, how do i find it?

There are very ways to clear the bios password to access your computer but lets try a couple that I know about. Your laptop does not have pins and a jumper block but instead it has a small area known as a jumper pad. This pad is directly under the memory modules on the motherboard and is known as J3 which is printed on the motherboard. The jumper is small and what needs to happen is you have to "short" the jumper with two small pins shile powering the laptop up and letting it boot. Once the boot process completes, power down the laptop, remove the jumper and the password and cmos will be clear. replace the memory and reboot, you will have to get back into the bios to reset the time and date.

The other way is to remove the cmos battery or RTC battery for about an hour, this may reset the cmos also but it is not as effective as shorting out the jumper pad which is what that pad is for.

My ACER 5570z will not start up. When power cord

You most likely have a broken DC Jack on the motherboard. Thus, the battery cannot get a charge and the power supply is not making a connection to the system board because of the broken DC Jack.

Good Luck

Setup password lost in an Acer Aspire 9410 laptop

The best way to this is to reset the cmos on the motherboard of the Laptop. This will reset the bios password.
To do this unplug all power from the unit and remove the battery. Remove the cover from the laptop so the motherbard is exposed. Look for the cmos battery (about the size of a nickel) and remove the battery for about 30 mins and then replace. Reassemble your laptop and you should be good to go.

Cmos battery `

It looks like a small round hearing aid battery. You will need to access your motherboard to find it which probably involves removing the bottom of your laptop. Hope this helps.
