I have an insignia 22'' flat screen and I'm trying to hook up external speakers. Is there any way to do this? I'm going insane.

if you hook the low-level audio-out from the tv to an input to the stereo unit, whatever you play on tv will send audio to surround/stereo reciever unit. look on back of tv for red &white AUDIO OUTPUT terminals. plug red/white audio cables from tv to the back of your stereo & plug into audio input of an open source on stereo (tv/video,aux. in,etc.) good luck!

get a 3.5mm -> rca adapter. You need to convert from the 3.5mm jack that your speakers uses to the rca jacks that your tv expects.
