I have a SPL-TXC122a shredder and I need the plastic drive gear Know where to get one?

I tried to get one for my machine but to no avail. So I fixed my gear myself. Go to your local hardware and buy a "Devcon" plastic welder. Not inexpensive.
You have a broken tooth on the plastic gear. Use a very small
drill bit the size of a big paper clip. drill three holes where the tooth broke off ( if part of the gear tooth is still there, file it down smooth.) Cut three pieces off a paper clip and insert them into the holes. Make them extend to below the gear and not to extend above the original tooth. Now you will make a tooth with the plastic
weld. Fill where the broken tooth was and let it set. Also fill where the paper clip extends below the tooth. This will give it more strength. Let it dry and harden. Now with a small file, file it to make it fit to the next tooth so it doesn't make a bump. " if you can before the mix dries, replace the gear and turn by hand the steel gears to make a smooth fit. Wipe any excess mix away. Good luck....
PS. mine is still working after three years....Hint do not try to shred
to many papers at one time. And once in a while put some 3 in one oil on a piece of paper in a sig sag motion and run it thru the machine. This will help to quiet the noise and oil the cutting blade.

A piece of junk mail from a religious organization had a "medalion" in the envelope. I put the whole thing in the shredder- royal VF1012mx. Now it is jammed makes a terrible noise.

Unplug the machine.
Remove the waste bin.
Remove 4 screws inside underneath to take cutting head off the basket/cabinet.
Turn the cutting head over and remove 6 screws that hold the top cover onto the bottom. Turn the unit back over and remove the top cover...remove the medallion if jammed...check the gear train to see if it has broken any teeth in the drive gears.
If you need parts contact Royal at 1-800-524-0799.

Need nylon gears for 57c.where can i get them?

Heres a few sites that have gears another that has manuals you may have to call or email as not all parts are listed on website

To take apart ,UNPLUG the unit
There are 7 to 9 screws on the back depending on which unit
gently pry the two halves apart .if it seems stuck you may have missed a screw or
The blades are held by a plate on one side and this is fit snug to the top and bottom halfs , use a screw driver or butter knife to get it started then pull firmly upward with both hands , flip the top over and be gentle with the wires as they will remain connected.

pull out the motor and gear housing , remove the black plastic retaining clips from the gear housing then remove the 5-7 screws in the white gear housing , the one half (cover)will come off exposing the gears and you can identify wich gear is broken and replace it .
this is a good time to clean it out too :)

Motor runs both forward and reverse, but cutters don't turn

How about a hidden 7th screw? If you look at the sticker on the underside where the bar code is you may see a dimple like there is a hollow space under it. If you can't see it, rub your finger over it to find the hole. Just stick your phillips screw driver through the sticker to get access to this last screw. As for the motor working both directions but the cutter doesn't turn it is most likely a broken nylon cog on the drive gears within the white plastic housing at the end of the shredder. There are 3 or 4 gears - all nylon (plastic), my unit had one tooth completely broken off and the one next to it was worn. I am looking into finding parts but I'm not having any luck so far with local service centres. I have a call into the fellowes main 1-800 number to see if they can help. On reviews I have seen this is a common problem. One reviewer was told they use nylon to reduce noise, but of course it isn't going to last long, especially if you ever jam. Nice metal cutters but the weak link is the drive gears that you can't see.
