Fault to its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
I appreciate your advice and input. I have spent the afternoon checking voltages and everything is good to the backlight converter. It should stay on but is shutting down. I removed all connections to the T-Con board and removed them and I still have the same symptoms. I spoke with a TV Technician and he advised that it could be the backlight converter as well. I’m going to change those parts to see if that fixes my problem. Since I have audio and video when the backlight convertor is working that seems to be okay in my own head. I haven’t worked in electronics for over 20 years.

Hi again,
Sorry bout the Live Session.
May I suggest something?
Pls try another signal source other than the indoor antenna such as a DVD or even an old VCR.
It is possible that what you are experiencing is video muting due to dirty antenna signal. If even with a stable known to be good video source (DVD) the problem persist, then it is a matter of checking the voltages as indicated in your service manual.
Hope this be of some help/idea even if the chat did not work out. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.

This is a common problem with plasma tvs You did not mention whether you could generate any sound like through your dvd player or something like that. Whether you have audio or not makes a difference on which board may be causing you the problem. Just because it does not have a picture for tv viewing does not mean it won't produce some type of sound through your av1 input. Try it and I'll try to be more specific.

You need to find out if the power supply is putting out 24vdc for the backlight inverter board, it can be that the inverter board has short circuits which will cause the 24vdc to go into shutdown to protect itself, you can disconnect the power cables to the inverter board to see if you will get the 24vdc back.
