Tried reset, button feels dead ( are they sprung? should they click?) nothing Got it home, batteries read 13.3 volts each, connections good, all fuses fine, connector blocks clean and tight, brake releases on throttle. Brushes like new. In drive and not freewheel, key reset so not in sleep mode, all connections & solder joints good in tiller head, lights horn and reverse beeps work fine.Click from brake on wigwam movement, non microswitch type. Not sure what to check in its operation though, should I see anything move when operated??? control box ( P&G I think) dry and clean, both 40A and 2A fuses good. in there. This scooter has hardly been used, occasional 2 miles to shops and back. its as new, so this is disappointing. Cannot get a sign of life to the motor at all. Was running beautifully before it stopped. Cannot afford a dealer repair.

Many people have problems with their Pride scooters.
Pride refuses to issue any information or schematics, telling the customer to visit their dealer for chargable service.
Guess what !! The dealers don't have the info or schematics or service manuals either !!!
There are known faults and flaws in the Pride designs.
Look under the 'hood' for the controller - big box with heavy wires connected to the motor. Write down the manufacturer and model number from the data plate.
Go to the manufacturer's web site and get your manuals and info there. Curtis 1228 is a common model.
Also, pay attention to the temperature limits, and EMF / RFI sensitivity -- big problem !!
Finally, if your dealer service rep suggested offsetting the throttle handle slightly for more speed, he may have created another problem -- all controllers have a PROGRAMMED deadband, shifting the centering of the throttle lever throws the whole system out of balance - integral part of original setup.
Bottom line - find a reliable independent instrumentation and controls service person who is familiar with programmed electronic motor controllers.
Good Luck

sounds like it is in neutral, look for a lever on the bottom, rear of the scooter to pull up

All scooters have a protection system built in to prevent burning up the motor, and the user, should the scooter overheat. It sounds like yours overheated. If the temp. outside was warm to hot, and your weight is near the weight limit for the scooter, and you are taxing the motors over a hill, or unstable terrain, then the scooter goes into "limp home mode", or just enough to get you a bit aways, and then it will turn off. After a few minutes to cool off, it will go again, but shut down fairly quickly because it takes a spell to let the whole transaxle-motor assembly to get cool.
Check your weight, and anything else you may be carrying with you on the scooter. Check the terrain, and incline you are going against. Throttle down for all these occassions. If you overloaded the system at some point, then you may have overheated the brushes. Remove them (2) with a standard screwdriver and see if the copper coil is still flexible and springy. If not, replace it/them.
The damage may already be done, so it may need a new motor/transaxle assembly. An expensive proposition I'm afraid.

hi, first you need to check the connections to the batteries then to the motor controller, and don't dismiss the speed pot, disconnect the speed pot and try a normal 5K pot inplace of it, if the scooters responds you find the problem just a case of getting the right speed pot. Check the freewheel switch, normally it located on the motor side.

SOURCE: AXS Mobility scooter loses battery power quickly.
hi , two problems can cause this,
1. batteries are weak, is the charger ok ? just because it 's green does not mean the charger is ok, can you validate the charge, try some other batteries ?,
2. Brake be activated or on at all times,
The best way to prove this is to remove the brake mech from the side of the motor completey now try the scooter, if the problem goes away then check the resistance of the brake, is it open or shorted ?
If you feel the brake, batteries and charger are working ok then the controller must be activating the brake and this is the fault but please double check the voltage on the brake leads.
