I presume FN F4 is then one showing multiple displays?
Firstly, how are you connecting the TV? VGA port or TV port?
If its VGA port, make sure that the TV was on and connected when you started the PC, and that you are logged into windows and at the desktop.
If its via TV port, then you may need to change the driver settings to force it to accept that a TV is present. Right click the desktop, select properties. Then look around the 'settings' tab, and advanced settings. If only one monitor is showing under 'settings' its not detecting it. if two are showing, click on the greyed out one and select the 'extend windows desktop' option.

Try right clicking on the desktop and selecting "Display Properties" and attempting to configure it there. Once it is properly configured here, F4 may start working again.

S-video out to tv nvidia 9300 gforce won't work

obvious things first. have you tried the other input plugs on the TV? do you get the same problem with plugs 1 and 2?
you can try only having the TV connected to the Graphics card and turning on the PC see if it comes up as the primary display automatically.
have you tried configuring the Nvidia setting so ONLY the tv is a display instead of dual monitor?
doing these will rule out faulty cable or faulty S-video plug or Faulty TV input plug.

Since you are using a laptop to connect to an extended monitor, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that both the laptop and TV are on.
  2. Connect the VGA cable from the laptop to the TV.
  3. Then hold down the FN key and the function key with the TV/Monitor icon like the one below to switch to dual monitor display mode.

Cant get any sound on tv

Hello,

The only computer (or laptop) connection that carries both video and sound is HDMI. If you do not have a HDMI/DVI connector on the back of your computer, then you will have to use the VGA-composite or s-video connectors to display your PC's output on an external monitor like an LCD TV.

On both my HP and Dell laptops the display settings (Start/Control Panel/Personalize/Display Settings) allow two modes - single or dual monitor mode. Single monitor mode allows me to switch between any one of three possible video outputs - VGA-composite, S-Video or laptop screen, or a split-desktop (display spread over two separate monitors). Dual monitor mode allows the same display on any two of three possible video outputs.

Switching is performed using the fn keys on the keyboard (fn key plus the F2, F8, etc. function key with the display marking). You guys use single monitor mode until you figure out what your are doing. Select VGA-composite or S-Video.

Non-HDMI sound to your TV monitor or sound system must be obtained from your laptop's Headphone or S/PDIF jacks. Headphone is stereo and S/PDIF is 5.1 surround sound. Headphone is electrical, but S/PDIF may be electrical or optical (laser light). You must set the sound jack that you intend to use as the default on the PC control panel (Start/Control Panel/Sound).

None of these connectors is two-way in the context of an LCD monitor - your PC cannot record a TV picture or sound from the external monitor. To accomplish this you must purchase a video converter box that converts cable TV or video + sound inputs to USB format usable by your laptop. Do this and you can turn your laptop into a Tivo recorder/DVD burner using Beyond TV, Sage TV or a variety of other software packages.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

No backlight in my lcd but the whole laptop work properly,

Try to connect external monitor to your laptop then hit the short cut keys(see your manual)to use dual monitor. if you got screen on dual monitor. Try to check your laptop screen if something can still be view from screen, if you have then backlighting circuit is to be check. Practical solution is to bring it to a shop if you are not inclined on fixing it yourself.

Connection between PC and tv

make your TV a second display? your PC should ha dual siplay capability, with TV out option. if you have that kind of video display card then when the PC still off, connect your TV cable to the dsiplay card, your VGA also should be connected to your monitor. after that turn on your PC and your system will detect 2 displays, the montior and the TV. then go to your display properties, you will see two displays there 1 and 2, click the display 2 and there at the bottom of the page you will see a box saying extend your windows in this dsiplay. select that and click ok. you should be having 2 displays now.
