Hi Katie.. If you are using a coaxial cable to connect your TV and VCR, the TV needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4. If you are using the Yellow, red and white cables, your TV should be on video mode to work.

How can I receive and record cable channels on my Sony SLV 750 vcr? The tuner only displays channels 1-99 on the vcr. Thank you.

I will be assuming you have analog cable TV service, no cable box. If you have a cable box, the instructions would be different.

There are many steps to properly setup your Sony VCR and they should ALL be setup to correctly record channels, however just to cover your question here....

Press MENU on the remote control for the VCR and you should see on your TV screen, the main menu options. Select TUNER PRESET. Press OK. Set Antenna/Cable to CABLE. Next Select AUTO-PRESET. Available channels will be scanned. This may take a few mins. so be patient. Channels could go up to 125. This should make available cable channels ready to record/view.

You can ADD or Delete a specific channel also if one is missed or undesired by selecting MANUAL SET.

DVD/VCR picture (and sound) are not on tv screen

Try setting the TV to AV1 & see if the dvd picture appears. There should be a button on the remote to change TV/video. Hope this helps.

Vcr does not run

Try changing the channels on the VCR itself. If you can do that, then it would indicate a problem with the VCR's remote. If you are still unable to change channels on the VCR manually, it could indicate a circuitry problem, for which you will have to get the VCR serviced.

Problems tuning TV and SLV-900

the video recorder has it's own tuner you do not actually record from the tv... think of the vcr as like a tv but without a screen... connect to your tv via a scart lead and while you are on the vcr's 'channel' (so you could see a tape playing on your tv) and access the menu on you vcr (not the tv's menu) choos auto tune if the vcr supports it or manual tune if it has no auto tune and tune in the required channels on your vcr... it is simply then a matter of selecting on your vcr which channel you wish to record

Sony SLV-D350P DVD/Video cassette Player

I have the manual. Are you trying to record something live? if so:

1) Turn on both the DVD/VCR and your TV.
2) Switch the input selector on your TV so that the signal from the player appears on the TV screen (this is usually something like 'input 1' or 'line 1' and so forth)
3) On your remote, set TV/DVD-VIDEO to DVD-Video, then press SELECT VIDEO to control the VCR. These buttons are at the upper left hand corner of the remote controller.
4) To record from a cable box, turn it on.
5) make sure the tape is longer than the total recording time.
6) insert a tape into the VCR.
7) press CH +/- on the remote to select the channel or line input video source to record.
8) select the tape speed SP/EP (SP provides better quality, EP provides three times the recording time as SP)
9) Press the record button to start recording. The VCR display will display the message REC.
