Re: In shooting mode the lcd screen is black

Olympus says this is a bad image processing chip. They will replace it at no charge if you are still within the year warranty period. They require proof of purchase i.e. receipt, copy of charge card statement, copy of warranty card, etc. Contact them for further information on how to return it.

No image is captured by the screen itself (LCD screen works but completely dark).

Did you try pressing the display button several times? in both viewing mode and record mode? Cycle through all display modes, s you get used to the button, so it does not trow you off when it happens again.

Canon eos rebel xsi screen is black when taking a picture but shows picture afterwards..Menu works also so screen works but just black when trying to take a pic..

Set the shooting mode to a Creative Zone mode. Press MENU to enter the menu. Under the Setup tab, select [Live View function settings] then press SET. Select [Live View shoot] and press SET. Select [Enable] and press SET. Press MENU to exit the menu. Press SET. The image should now appear on the LCD instead of through the viewfinder.

Refer to "Live View Shooting," Chapter 5 in the manual for more details and the limitations of the LiveView mode.

Rear lcd screen black in shooting mode but works fine in playback

Solved the problem by going to the Canon product support site. It seems that there is no problem at all. The way the camera is designed is the problem. To be able to use the rear display lcd as a view finder, the camera needs to be able to lift the mirror to allow the sensors to pick up the image and display it on the screen. The 20D does not have this abilitiy. Apparently some later models do allow you to raise the mirror. It was this feature on those models that led me to believe that the 20D should do this too.

Canon Powershot SD1000: LCD screen display

Hopefully you resolved this already. If not, push the "DISP." button left of the MENU button. Pushing it gives you three options: black (for discreet shooting so your LCD doesn't give garner dirty looks from fellow concert goers), liveview, and liveview with info overlayed (shooting mode, ISO, etc.). Good luck!

When shooting my screen is black and pics. are black

try to take video on Movie mode, if you won't get picture on LCD the CCD is dead. That means you need to replace the whole zoom lens. it costs a lot, not worth to repair.

Camera screen remains black when I turn on shooting mode

Turn the camera on. With the screen showing, press the DISP button and this will give you a selection of different screen views i.e. squares for aligning shot squarely; black - thru viewfinder only; etc. Different modes will give you different screen displays i.e. P setting screens are different to when you have the camera set on AUTO.

Hope this helps.

Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you. This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty. Good luck my friend. Joe Weibel
