I have a pw1380 model power washer that the motor will not resume running when you sqeeze the trigger on the handle. This occurs when you have been running the washer and stop. Can the ISS be jamming and if so, how do I get the housing off to check it.

SOURCE: Hello there. My Karcher pressure washer motor

The valve that admits more water to be compressed is stuck. It is likely the O-Rings on it need replacing. No water to the pump, no pressure!

The motor will stop when pressure is up to the designed pressure.

SOURCE: i have a k7.91 pressure washer the motor runs but stops or pulses

This sounds like a problem with the pressure sensor which is located on the water inlet side of the pump. This switches the power to the motor when there is sufficient inlet pressure and water flow. This pressure switch can get partially siezed up, and not operate correctly.

You will need to dismatle the unit and identify the pressure switch, dismantle it and lubricate it with silicone grease.

SOURCE: I have a C/H mod. PW1380- worked trouble free for

Bud The internal seals have blown just enough to cause this to malfunction, whilst it is only a small cost for the seals themselves the overall cost is $200 to repair as it has to be tested and servicd as a company policy ( just had my own done for the same reason)

It is not DIY as the tech showed me some of the pitfalls in self attempted fix and I am glad i didn't fiddle. The case is easily broken if you dont know how to open it and that;s just for starters.

Hope this helps. I have the same problem. It's not the switch but the mechanism that slides inside the switch, which activates the switch to go on and off. I fnally found it so hopefully they have the part in stock. It's not a clogged wand trust me I have torn it completley apart and found out it is the mechanism in the switch is plastic and breaks.

I have a troy bolt power washer and it won't pump

You need to give more information. Does the motor stall when you squeze the handle? Does the spray surge and the motor run well? Does the spray surge and the motor surge as well? Does water come out of the bottom of the pump? Does nothing come out of the spray gun when the trigger is squezed?
All of these symptoms point to different problems.

When water is running through system, the motor has to run to keep the pressure built up. So, if the water is leaking out, the motor think it needs to keep running to keep the pressure built up. The leak needs to be fixed to the motor will not run constantly.

Constant pressure

Some of these machines require you to hold the spray handle trigger in the open position while starting the motor, once it is running let the trigger go and it should run on bypass

My Snap-On 2000 PSI pressure washer is leaking through the trigger handle. I have no pressure coming out of the wand but the motor runs.

The fitting for the trigger is cracked. It happened to mine because I did not make sure the wand and hose was drained before winter came. The water left in the wand expanded and cracked the trigger housing. The problem is that the trigger piece is easily replaceable, but it is not available. Alltrade makes you buy the complete wand.

Karcher K2.36 motor cut out and won't restart

Yes, the water should be turned on first but if it only ran for a minute or two it should be OK. Most late model pressure washers have an automatic shutoff when the trigger on the wand is released. Turn on the water and then the machine and then squeeze the trigger on the handle of the wand and the motor should start as soon as the air is cleared from the line by the flowing water (about 10 seconds). If the unit was put away wet last season you may need to clean the nozzle with a piece of wire too.

Karcher k1 leaking from inside casing.

The most likely issue, which seems to occur alot with karcher, is a cracked water pump. What happens is that as you release the trigger on the handle, the rise in pressure should cut off the motor, but as it also cuts off the water flow at the wand end and the motor spins a few more revs until it stops, then there is a huge pressure glitch which blows apart the weak plastic pumps that they use. Since the plastic cracks it is very difficult to repair and the only option is to go and buy another. BUT...this time tape up the trigger on the handle so it is always on and then it won't blow itself up. Just use the unit on/off switch to turn the motor on and off.

Powermate pressure washer Model PW0872400

pressure washers has this pressure switches where in as you press on the trigger, the washer works and if you release it, the pressure would build up high and it would trip this switch to turn off the motor or deflect the water to the by pass hose ( if the motor is not stopping) then as you press again the trigger, water should come out of the gun again but would not,

i have encountered the problem is in the pressure switch, even the pressure went down, sometimes it wont close the contact then the motor wont run ,

if the motor is continously running, then the trigger switch is the problem, the pressure excerted on the switch is so high that even if you press it , it won't open up to release the water.

what i can suggest is to tie the trigger in the gun so that it is always pressed and then just unplug the unit if you want to stop using it. it is an inconvenience but it will work.

or, open the gun and see if you can figure out why pressing the trigger would not open the switch.

another option is you can lower the pressure of the washer if it has an adjustable pessure controller. by lowering the pressure might open the switch when ever you press the trigger.

i hopw i was able to fix...

good luck,
