ALSO,REMOVE PLUG AND GET A WIRE BRUSH AND SCRUB IT DOWN. GET SOME CARB SPRAY AND SPRAY IT OFF. LET IT DRY AND GET A LIGHTER AND HEAT UP ELECTRODE. INSTALL IT AFTER COOLS DOWN. SHOULD NOT BE OILED DOWN WHEN PULLED OUT,BAD SIGN AND FOULED PLUG.

Have gas ,spark and compression no run


FUEL INJECTED CARS REQUIRE LOTS OF FUEL PRESSURE. THE ELEMENTS NECESSARY FOR STARTING ARE: SPARK ,COMPRESSION, FUEL, FUEL PRESSURE, TIMING AND CRANK AND CAM SENSOR SIGNALS AT THE PROPER MOMENT AND STARTER MOTOR ENGAGEMENT. My husqvarna chanswar want start I changed my spark plug and the petrol and still want work ?


Forget checking the spark by grounding the plug to the engine. This is both dangerous and does not tell if you have enough spark under compression.
Start by performing a secondary compression check, without proper secondary compression, the unit will not start. You need between 115 - 165 psi.
If compression is good, check the spark with an inline spark tester. Set the gap on the tester at 6mm. If you have a blue / white spark, ignition is good. Make sure the ignition is gapped .20" from the flywheel, more or less will retard or advance the timing of the saw. Make absolutely sure you have the manufacturer's recommended spark plug. If it calls for a resistor plug, it MUST use a resistor plug to operate properly.
If you have compression and spark, check fuel supply. Rebuilding modern carburetors is not recommended. They have very small fuel flow holes (due to emission) Replacement carbs can be purchased for under $100.

Car turns over but won't start. Boyfriend checked the spark plugs , says vetting spark. It says he did a compression check to it. Starter is a year old, battery new, we replaced fuel pump 3 weeks ago...


A thumb is not test for compression as 10lb/sq " will blow your thumb off. Have a proper compression test done. Next although it is sparking the question to ask is it sparking at the right time and to the right cylinder. Pouring fuel into the cylinder is a waste of time as the air/fuel ratio will be too rich to ignite even if the spark was occurring on the compression stroke. So here are some simple steps to follow to get it going
Have a compression test done to determine if there is sufficient compression to ignite the mixture
2 check that the spark is occurring at the cylinder at the right time ( no 1 cylinder on timing mark on compression stroke.)
3 . If it is EFI engine then check that the injectors are actually squirting if carby engine check that the fuel is in the fuel bowl With engines you have to have a combination of 3 things for the engine to work They are compression -which you will be checking for--2 spark timing--- which you will be checking for and lastly 3 fuel into the cylinder at the right time ==which you will be checking for
you only have to be missing one of these and you had best take it to a professional mechanic to get it started.

My 2004 chevy malibu classic 4 cyl wont start its


There are four things required for an engine to run: air, fuel, compression and properly timed spark. If you have fuel and timed spark, the only two variables are air and compression. Air is not the likely problem, and compression should be good unless you blew a head gasket or the rings in all four cylinders. How did you determine that you have fuel and spark? Those are the two most likely problem areas.

Van cranks but will not start


Hi, if the engine cranks over normally when you attempt to start you car, but the engine does not start, the problem may be NO FUEL, NO SPARK or NO COMPRESSION. The engine needs adequate fuel pressure, a properly timed spark and normal compression to start.

To find why the engine won't start, remove the air inlet tube from the throttle body, push the throttle open and spray a small amount of aerosol starting fluid into the engine. Crank the engine. IF it has spark and compression but NO FUEL, it will start and run a few seconds before dying. If it does NOT start, it probably has NO SPARK.

Another method to check for spark is to pull a spark plug wire off of a spark plug (if it has plug wires, coil-on-plug ignitions do not) and place the open end of the plug wire near a metal surface on the engine. Have a helper crank the engine while you watch for a spark. DO NOT hold the wire while doing this as it can shock you. If you see a spark, the problem is not spark, but most likely NO FUEL or NO COMPRESSION. If you do not see a spark, the problem is in the IGNITION CIRCUIT.

Proper fuel pressure is critical for fuel injected engines to start and run. You should hear the fuel pump inside the fuel tank buzz for a couple of seconds when the ignition is turned on (no buzz means the pump is not running and the engine is not getting fuel). You can smell the tailpipe for gasoline vapors after cranking the engine. If you smell gas, the problem is likely not fuel but NO SPARK. You can also remove the plastic cap and press the schraeder valve test fitting on the fuel rail to see if there is any fuel pressure to the engine (not a very accurate test because fuel pressure must be at a certain level for the engine to start, for that you need a gauge). Even so, no fuel at the fuel rail would tell you fuel is not getting to the engine.

When starting it turns over but wont start ,good battery good starter has gas


Each engine, regardless of manufacturer, requires 4 basic elements, air (& air flow), fuel (& Fuel pressure), compression (at the proper time) and ignition (at the proper time).

Not starting......


If the above information is correct.
1. Good Compression
2. Good Spark & Proper timing
3. Good fuel Pressure, injector pulse , injector spray, & fuel quality( no t contiminated)
4. Proper & clear air intake into engine
Then the likely cause would be a restricted exhaust. disconnect the exhaust at the manifold, and retry starting engine. keep me posted, we will make her run!

plz check the following and update me
1. Fuel (To be exact proper air/fuel ratio, normally it is about 14/1)
2. Spark (in appropriate moment)
3. Proper timing (the valves should open and close only in appropriate time)
4. Compression in the cylinders (Normal compression is 120 - 170 psi. The engine won't start if the compression is lower than 70 - 80 psi.)
