Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories

1 Answer

I need the Theftlock radio unlock code for a 2000 Pontiac Montana

I have pressed and held for 10 seconds both the 1 & 4 buttons and the 2 & 3 buttons and I do not get a three digit number. The radio still says locked. What can I do to overcome this problem? This problem with the radio originated when I purchased and installed a different instrument cluster. The fuel guage, temp. guage, and speedometer had quit working properly.

It aint working dude because you have a RDS radio, that means your radio transmits data, like when it shows the song and the title of whoever sings it, your screen dont say LOC, IT SAYS LOCKED, YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER TO GET IT UNLOCKED, THEY USE A TEC 2 DEVICE TO DO IT. Thats why those steps dont work, i gurantee it, because i got a 2003 pontiac grand am and had the same problem.

My radio is locked in my 2000 buick lesabre, how do i get it unlocked

GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE:
1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you
get 3 digits on your display. This is the first 3 of 6 digits you will
need, so writeicon1.png 'em down.
2. After doing step one and writing down the code, immediately press
the
AM/FM button to get the last 3 of the 6 numbers you'll need, and write
'em down. (if you wait too long between steps 1 and 2 and the LOC code
displays again, just start over).
3. Call this number, it's a prerecorded messageicon1.png, so don't worry about
having to talk to anyone...1-800-537-5140. The voice will ask if
you're
calling for Chevyicon1.png, Pontiac, Cadillac, etc... When you here him tell
you
to press "2" for Pontiac, press 206010 and hit the # key. He'll ask
you
for the 6 digit code that you've written down. Enter that and press
the
* key. He will then give you a code, and the option to get additional
4
digit codes, but one should be sufficient.
4. Follow the normal procedure in your owners manual for unlocking the
radio with your new code...press the hour set button on your radio
until
you get the first two numbers of the code, then press the minute set
button until you've entered the last two numbers. Immediately press
the
AM/FM button once the correct code is entered and the code SEC or
"securedicon1.png" will be displayed on the display screen. Now, just turn the
radio on, and your ready to roll.
There is an additional step you can take to remove all codes from the
radio and start from scratch by entering your own personalized 4 digit
code so that it won't get you in a pickle again! Just repeat step 4
and
you should get a display screen that readsicon1.png ---. This means the code is
out, and you can now program your own code. Of course, once you
receive
the 4 digit code from the GM recorded message, just keep it in a safe
place, because you can use that same code again and again should you
have any more problems with it in the future. Good luck, and yes, it
does work.

Only a GM dealer can unlock the radio.

It is much smarter to disable lockout entirely, with MP3/WMA, DVD and XM-ready stereos, the regular CD, cassette, and radio-only units aren't so hot.

The following applies to an unlocked powered-on radio (2000 shown)

    1. Do not disconnect the battery

    2. Press the stereo's "1" and "4" buttons at the same time for five seconds with the ignition on and radio power off. he display will show "SEC", showing anti-theft is on

    3. Press the MN button, the display will show "000"

    4. Press the MN button until he last two numbers are the same as your secret code (how do you find this? you decide the code?)

    5. Press HR until the first one or two numbers displayed match your code. The numbers will be displayed as entered.

    6. Press "AM/FM", if the display shows "_ _ _ " you have disabled Theftlock, if "SEC" is shown, it is still in Theftlock

I just tried this for my 1998 Chevy Venture and it works! press the 2 & 3 numbers at the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will come up; press the am/fm button for about 10 seconds; another code will appear; dial 1-800-537-5140 and enter 106010 followed by the # sign; enter the 4 or 6 digit code from your radio followed by an *; the phone number will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code; enter this code into your radio just as your owners manual tells you to - use the hour and minute buttons to put in the unlock code, Press AM/FM button, "SEC"---" will display and You can turn on the radio. I had tried this with another dealer code and it wouldnt work, but with the 106010 dealer code it worked just fine, my unloc code was 0120

When i try to turn my radio on it says loc hoow do i unlock it?

Does your GM car or truck Radio display LOC and does not turn on? Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Oldsmobile vehicles used a theft system to lock the radio when power is lost. This system was used from the ealy 1990's to the early 2000's.

    Instructions:
    1. If your radio displays the word LOC, you can retrieve a set of factory numbers in the radio that enable you to get a backup unlock code. If the radio says INOP, you will have to leave the key in the "ON" position, or let the car run for at least 1 hour before you attempt any unlock procedure. INOP means a secondary theft lock due to too many false attempts to unlock the radio.
    2. Looking at the face of your GM Delco radio, hold down the preset buttons 1 & 4 OR 2 & 3 (Depending on year and model) for approximately 10 seconds or until a set of 2 or 3 numbers comes up on the display. Write the numbers down.
    3. Next press the AM / FM button. A new set of 3 numbers will now show. Write these numbers down. You will then need to call a 1-800 phone number with these numbers to get the unlock code. There are many sites on the internet that can get it for you- for a small fee. Or, try calling your local GM Dealer and ask for them to do it. Many times they will do it for free. It only takes a minute.
    4. Once you have the unlock code, enter it by pressing the MIN button until the display shows the last 2 digits of the unlock code, then press the HR button until the first 2 numbers or shown. Then press the AM / FM button to enter the code. The radio will now display SEC, and normal function is restored.
Also, its possible that you need RESET your GM Radio; this is the procedure: While performing maintenance on your car, you may disconnect the radio from the battery in your GM vehicle. GM cars contain Delco radios that are protected by Theftlock, which locks the radio after it has been disconnected from a power source. Iit can only be reset and unlocked with a car-specific security code. Identifying the security code for your GM vehicle is the only way to reset the car radio and disable the Theftlock protection device.

    Instructions:
    1. Turn on your car. Your Delco radio will show "LOC" in the LED display.
    2. Press and hold down both the second and third preset buttons. Hold these buttons down for at least six seconds.
    3. Write down the two- or three-digit code that appears in the LED display.
    4. Press the AM/FM button on the radio.
    5. Write down the next two- or three-digit code that appears in the LED display. You should be left with either a four- or six-digit number. Turn off your car.
    6. Call the Delco radio automated customer support line at 1-800-537-5140.
    7. Press "1" and then press the pound sign. The automated voice should respond "Invalid code, try again."
    8. Enter the number 139010 into your phone and then press the "*" sign.
    9. Enter the four- or six-digit number you wrote down from Steps 3 and 5, and then press the "*" button.
    10. Write down the four-digit code given by the automated voice.
    11. Turn on your car. Enter the Delco unlock code using the procedure outlined by your GM owner's manual. Normally, the unlock code is entered with the "HR" and "MN" buttons on your radio.
    12. Press the AM/FM button. If you have entered the code correctly, your LED display will read "SEC" and the radio will be unlocked.

I have a pontiac grand prix 97 that my brother sold to me. The radio has the "anti theft" lock on it, and I don't know the code to unlock it. I googled it and got the 6 numbers you need "392401" but now...

icon1.gif GM radio unlock procedures If you've ever had to disconnect the battery, or locked your stock GM radio by some other means and don't have the unlock code - here's what you need to do to get it unlocked. Sorry I don't have any photos, but if you can't find the radio - or any of the buttons...I'm not sure any amount of pictures would help you. biggrin.gif

Press & hold the 2 & 3 buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will appear, write this # down, press & hold the am/fm button for about 10 seconds: another code will appear, write this # down, then call 1-800-537-5140 and enter 202108 (this is a dealer code - you can use one of the others below, too) followed by the # key, then enter the numbers that you wrote down, followed by the * key.
The call will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code. Write this code down so you have it if you ever need it again. Enter this number into your radio following the instructions in your owners manual.

Note: If you get an override code that starts with 0, you drop the 0 when entering the code into your radio.

If you don't have an owners manual, then press & hold the hour button until the first 2 digits of your code come up, then press & hold the minute button until the last 2 digits show. Then press the am/fm button.
Repeat step #5 twice in a row it will disable the Theftlock and you will see "---". You will then be able to change to a new lock code.

IMPORTANT - Other dealer codes: 139010, 206053 and 620529 - these may be inactive by now; GM will remove them from time to time if they feel that they are "compromised".

Also - there are 2 modes to the TheftLock - "LOC" or "SEC" and "INOP". Once the anti-theft is activated, the radio display will show "LOC" or "SEC" - you then have 8 attempts to enter your code. If after 8 attempts you don't enter the correct code, the display will change to "INOP". It is only at this time that you will need to wait one hour, with the ignition ON; before you can retry. After that - you will have only 3 attempts before the radio enters "INOP" mode again.
