From what you're describing, there might be an issue with the detergent reacting with something in the water. Also, check the water temperature. Any detergent needs to have HOT water--at least 120 degrees or above to activate and clean properly! I also recommend ALWAYS using the high temp wash, boost, or whatever it's called to keep the water very hot throughout the cycle if your washer has that feature.

My bosch dishwasher has suddenly started leaving everything cloudy, particularly the glasses. The salt is topped up, the rinse aid full, filters cleaned out.

You can experiment with different tablets/powders and check that the salt and rinse aid dispensers are correctly adjusted, but all dishwashers eventually cause glass to go cloudy and although it's a gradual process there's a point at which it suddenly seems to become noticeable. Any lead crystal glass will cloud very quickly indeed so must be handwashed if you want to avoid this. The cloudiness in glass is irreversible as it's caused by millions of microscopic cracks in the glass surface. Some crockery items are glazed with a process which can also turn cloudy over time in a dishwasher, white plates won't really show it but coloured ones do (especially blue and red). There are some tablets/powders which claim to have a glass protection additive, but this just slows down the process. The best way to slow the process is to wash at the lowest temperature you can.

Try cleaning the machine by adding white vinegar to the wash water (before the water-fill procedure finishes). Put your stained dishes and cutlery in with the wash to remove the hard water deposits. The combination of salt and rinse aid may have helped cause this problem. Hope this helps!

White film left on dishes, does not seem to be cleaning thoroughly

could be several things... usually it just needs rinse aid.. all dishwashers spot or leave dishes cloudy without rinse aid.. or your water is just to hard, in that case you will need to soften it with salt, check the owners manual to see how that is done.. also run the dishwasher right after you put the dishes in, if you leave them for a day to wait to fill it up then the dried food gets like cement.
