Everyone would, lol. Emachine doesn't like to give out info or may be that's why they're so cheap. Basically you throw them away when the board goes out.

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.

The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the main wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

You want a Front Panel header pinout.

(See? Know you can go around, and brag to your friends!
"So,......mrcat_grave,.........do you know what a Front panel header is? What about a Front Panel header pinout? How about you Sally?"
Lol! )

Hmmm, I do not find an eMachines C1940 desktop computer.
Could this be an eMachines C1904, or S1940 desktop computer?

If so they both use an FIC AM37 motherboard,

(First International Computer, { Inc } AM37 is the model number of the motherboard)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=bph07941&lc=en

(Scroll down for Motherboard Layout illustration, and Motherboard Photo )

Provided I am on the right track;

Motherboard installed in computer case:
Processor to the Top, Ram Memory slots to the Right, white long PCI slots to the Bottom;

The Front Panel header is at the Bottom/Right corner.
It is rectangular in shape, and situated Vertically.

Two columns of contact pins.
There are 4 pins on the Left side, 5 pins on the Right side.
(Do NOT get it mixed up with the IR header above it. 6 pins)

The pins are numbered EVEN on the Left side.
The pins are numbered ODD on the Right side.

Starting on the BOTTOM of the Left side, going towards the Top;
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is NO pin 10.

Starting on the Bottom of the Right side, going towards the Top;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED. (Light)
[LED = Light Emitting Diode ]

Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the HDD LED is dim when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C.
Not Connected. Probably a 5 Volt power source, used by the factory to test with.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED. (Light)
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the PWR LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

Zip file PDF motherboard manual, for the FIC AM37 motherboard.
There is a version 1, and a version 2.
FIC AM37 v1, and FIC AM37 v2.

Doesn't matter which one you choose, as far as the Front Panel header pinout info is concerned.
You may however need info that is in the version 1, or is in the version 2.
You can download both.

Zip file. A compressed file used to send large amounts of information, more easily.
It needs to be decompressed, or 'unzipped'.

You have Winzip on your computer. It is an 'unzip' program.
If it is out of trial time, or not usable, suggest you download, and install the free 7-Zip.

Let's use the AM37 v1 manual as an example;

After you click on AM37 v1, a small window will come up on the right-
Opening am37_v1_manual.zip

Make SURE there is a Green dot, in the small circle to the left of Save File.
If not; click in the empty circle to the left of Save File.
Now go below in the small window, and click on OK.

A small window will come up on the left.
Allow the file to fully download in this small Download Window.
Then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

In the next window go to the far left, and click on - Extract all files
At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -
Next, Next, and Finish.

In the last window DOUBLE-click right on the file name.
(It is next to the red Adobe PDF icon)

Reformatted w2060, assuming that the recovery disk would work. now i keep getting ghosterr.txt error at barely 3% recovery. cleaned cd. no use. "chatted" with bangalor...i mean...

I'm assuming that you formatted your drive because you were experiencing problems. I would suspect that you have some bad sectors on your hard drive. Those bad sectors may have been causing your initial problems as well.

Without replacing the drive, I would recommend downloading a copy of UltimateBootCD (link below). Burn and boot off of that CD and run Darik's Boot and Nuke under HDD. This will write zero's onto all sectors of your drive.

If you can identify the manufacturer of your drive, you can boot off the UBCD and run the manufacturer's diagnostic tools. These will typically include a surface scan which will check for bad sectors and prevent the drive from using them.

If you have a significant number of bad sectors, there may be an ongoing problem. After a while, the drive will become completely useless. If that is the case, you'll need to replace the drive.

Ultimate Boot CD site: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

Good luck!

Wiring diagram emachine w2047 motherboard

The eMachines W2047 desktop computer uses an FIC AM37 mobo.
(MOtherBOard)

FIC is First International Computer, Inc.

This link takes you to a page to download the Motherboard Manual, for the FIC AM37 mobo,

http://www.elhvb.com/mboards/OEM/eMachines/manuals/index.html

There is a version 1, and version 2 of the AM37 motherboards.
[ FIC AM37v1, and FIC AM37v2 ]

Click on the appropriate file name, or click, and download both of them. (One at a time)

These are PDF files.
The computer you are on now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
(All you have to do is left-click on the file name)

I would also suggest upgrading to Adobe Reader 9.3.4. ,if you don't have it already.

Give the file time to download. It may take up to 30 seconds before you see the first page.
It may also take additional time for the file to fully download.

Would appreciate it if you would rate my solution if it has helped you.

Have emachines W2060. Can't get screen to show

Hi Joe,

Could be one of several things:

1) Monitor cable connection loose.
2) Video card (if you have one) not seated, or bad.
3) RAM module not seated, bad, or wrong kind. (If you have not messed with the RAM, probably not one of these.)
4) If your video is integrated into the motherboard (no video card) your motherboard may be bad. Installing a separate card could correct this.
5) Bad monitor.

Have you made any changes to your system when this happened?

Try to connect another monitor/cable to your computer and try your monitor on a friend's computer to see if it works.

Comment back with any updates.

Thanks for using Fixya.

We have a emachine w2060 and my mother unhooked 3 small cords looking for a power problem the small green and white the small red and white and the small black and white? i dont know where they belong so...

Unfortunately eMachine manuals are not very thorough. Here is a link to the support page for your computer:

w2060 Support

At the bottom of the page is a support telephone number. Call and explain that you need the front panel pinout for your computer. That's what it sounds like you have disconnected. There is also a link for online chat if that is an option.

I did find this page eMachine Pinouts that may be of help to you. It does not give the colors of the wires, but look for the abbreviations on the connectors such as HDD, PWR, and PWR LED.

Power button wiring

A quick google determined your emachines model w2040 is equipped with FIC motherboard AM37. Download the manual from
http://www.fic.com.tw/support/motherboard/motherboard.aspx?model_id=107
You'll find the pinout info for your wiring on page 13.
Most motherboards also have the pinouts silkscreened onto the board itself.
