Question about GE Refrigerators
Water keeps pouring into tray but never shuts off. How does the icemaker know when it's supposed to stop filling up. Is there a timer or sensor that tells it to do this. Ice maker will still freeze the ice and work but water keeps running and goes all over the back side of the freezer.
Without having a model# I can only guess that you probably have a bad water valve (similar to a kitchen faucet that drips when the faucet goes bad). It will look like this

The ice maker water fill solenoid may be leaking by and needs to be replaced. If you disconnect the water line from the solenoid and you see it continues to flow water then that valve is not seating properly. Another slight possiblility is the ice maker motor module gear is stuck in the fill position. See the attached link for a diagram. If the geared wheel just happens to get stopped in the "fill" position it will fill with full force water. If there is only a trickle of water then the soleinoid valve is the more likely source of the problem. http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/AA56-20.gif http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Maytag/AA56-16.gif

SOURCE: No ice...different question
Are you able to see if you can push a Q-tip or something up the fill tube line to see if it's frozen up inside there. It happens on certain units. You may need to take the Ice Maker out (easy) to get to the fill tube.

press the reset button (black) on the bottom of the icemaker, the system will go through a cycle, and water will pour into the tray.
