Re: dvd kitchen radio under the cabinet

The back light for the LCD is dead. I took apart my Grandfathers player the other day and put a light behind the screen and could see. I am trying to either find a new LCD or the backlight for it.

When recording using the VCR, the audio sounds like it's under water. Something is wrong with the audio head in recording the sound.

I can't believe people still use these things!
In any case - Everytime you play a tape, record, rewind, fast forward, etc, the tape runs over heads on your VCR. Those heads can become filthy with dust and magnetized.
What you need is a head cleaner/demagnetizer. I'm not sure where you'd find this these days, maybe radio shack?

I agree, made the same mistake and settled for the cheaper ADVENT solution even though a friend warned me suggesting one from Invision. Check out: the SL 7 for my wife’s Ford Edge and the Invision system is worth every penny! Best of luck.

We had the same problem. Since ours was off warranty, I took the back off (several small screws) and lubricated with some fine oil the track (two silver rods about three inches long) upon which the lens slides back and forth. It can be tricky to get it apart and back together again. I also manually slid the lens carrier so that it was in the middle, partway away from the center spindle. Now ours works fine. I think the problem was that the lens carrier doesn't slide very well or gets stuck on the track rods.

Have you insured the cables are still securely socketed? My TV is in a cabinet with a pull-out shelf and over time they cables can come loose.

Usually when I make this type of suggestion I get a poor rating because the user has already checked this, but before you vote, please remember that I'm not paid to do this and I'm just trying to help.

If the cables are securely fastened and you've not altered any settings on the TV or DVD player then it would be reasonable to assume it's just dying. I would connect it to another TV set or another set of connections on the same TV before I wrote it off.

Samsung DVD/ VCR combo v4600 video wont come up

if the dvd played sound but not the video then its not the laser pickup assy for sure. if the vcr had a oicture then that means all your cables are connected correctly. Now what it sounds likje is the video switcher IC in the controller circuit or in the dvd circuit the D to A converter went south. The only way to troubl;e shoot this would be to get a service manual/schematic and a scope to trace where you lose your video. im sure you dont wanna spend 4oo bucks or more for a scope so maybe just maybe it may be worth for a reoair oerson to diagnoise the unit. Its all up to you. Good Luck
