Model 32ld452c. Why is there a black screen and no sound?

The cable is either bad or the cable has not been securely full connected to the input and the output ports can have loose connections and can cause the signal and have horizontal or vertical lines to show up on the TVs screen. The cable will need replacement.

The tv that I have is an LG 42LB5600-UZ, but that wasn't one of the choices. The problem is that the television turns on... has a picture and sound, and then in about 30 seconds, the screen goes black but the sound continues. It is the same on every channel. It worked fine last night, but not today.

It sounds like your display controller is dying. This is a little computer board in your TV that essentially controls the picture that shows up. If your TV is under warranty, the LG will fix it for you. Otherwise, it is probably not worth the money it would cost to get it fixed.

How is it connected?

The splash screen with the LG Flatron logo is the monitor's splash screen not the PCs.
The machine is NOT booting up the splash screen is the monitor coming on.
Remove the 1Gb stick an see if the machine performs normally.
If it does then power it off, remove the power cord and CAREFULLY reinstall the new stick.
If it fails to boot you may have a defective memory module.
If the machine fails to boot with the new stick removed make sure you have the original memory seated properly and all cables securely attached

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
