Sounds as if the magnetron is dying, the only other thing it could be is the large main power transformer, but they usually have a low growl when mag is drawing current, also it could be a loose mechanical joint setting up a mechanical harmonic, but i'll bet its the mag...good luck

I HAVE WHINING NOISE FROM UNDER MY HOOD 2006 FORD 500

Well I don't think it's your microwave. Check all idler pulley bearings, alternator bearings, a/c compressor bearings and tensioner pulley bearings by placing long screwdriver on unit, then place ear to screwdriver handle. Careful not to get it caught in the pulleys. You will hear the high pitched whine in the bad unit or pulley.

I have a Kitchenaid YKHMS147HW microwave that started turning on by itself, and will not shut off unless I unplug the unit. If I put food in to cook, the food starts cooking as soon as I plug the unit in,...

Sounds like stuck relay contacts. Magnetrons need a high voltage source which is controlled by a micro to relay and then from relay to voltage source. Even the turntable works via a relay.

Vibrating noise when cooking

In order to try to set your mind at ease I will have to explain the Basics on how a Microwave Oven Functions.
When a Microwave Oven is set to COOK ...START. It cooks at 100%. There is no lowering of the heat as with a Range ( Cook Top) Control. So in order to do the other things such as DEFROST, WARM, or anything other than 100% COOK. A COOK ON- COOK OFF system was utilized. To DEFROST, the Microve COOKS at 100% for 30% of the TIME, then IDLES for 70% of the TIME. COOK ON 30% of the TIME, COOK OFF 70% of the TIME = DEFROST This is why you can hear the CYCLE. More power is required during the ON CYCLE, thus the lower vibration. The Vibration occurs when the High Voltage Transformer is turned ON ( COOK ON).
The VIBRATION seems to have got louder with age. This is somewhat normal as there is a vibration from the High Voltage Transformer present every time the Microwave is used. screws and other metal parts seem to get loose with this vibration. There is no solution, unless you can tighten EVERY screw, nut, and bolt in the unit.
Sorry!

The magnatron is shorting and overloading the high voltage transformer which is complaining with a load noise. Worth fixing if you do it your self. Magnatrons cast about $40 wholesale. There are just a few varieties of them that fit almos all brands. Try www.partstap.com

I thought I had answered this, but maybe the reply didn't post... Vent cap? Could you be more specific about what you tried and what the noise is like - where it seems to be coming from? It looks like on some of these models, the high-voltage section emits some interference which some people are blocking with a foil or metal shield. If they do that, they should definitely insulate it to prevent shorts. Another cause of vibration on these models is a fault in the stirrer located above the cover on the ceiling inside the cooking cavity. Feel free to post back so we can help further.

Constant Humm / Buzz but Works OK

I was going to suggest the low voltage transformer, but when you said it sounded like it was coming from the left side, that seemed odd. I have a stock transformer here I keep for test that is loud, but it works. Odd, eh?

High pitched hum/buzz

By high-pitched, you mean it is not that same frequency as when it's cooking? Is the tone near or the same as the beep you hear when you press a key? Please post a little more information so we can help better.
